The New Millennium Forest is one of the 20 forests that make up the public forest system of Puerto Rico. The forest is located east of the University of Puerto Rico Botanical Gardens in the Sabana Llana Sur district of San Juan making it one of the two state forests located within the capital's municipal boundaries.
In this natural reserve forest located in Rio Piedras, you'll find native birds, plants, and trees.
Río Piedras is a former municipality of Puerto Rico founded in 1714 and with independent legal existence until 1951, the year in which it was incorporated into the municipality of San Juan. It has 332,344 inhabitants.
If you enjoy the bustle of a traditional market where locals barter for everything from bananas to bacalao, this is for you. As much a scene as a place to shop, the market continues the colonial-era tradition of an indoor market that spills into the streets. The plaza's a short walk from the Río Piedras metro station and often hosts live music at weekends.
This is a forest within the city. 10-15 minutes away from the San Juan International Airport, 5-10 minutes away frommiayor shopping centers, and 10 minutes away from the beach. Best way to get here is by car, taxi or Uber.
