Question 2

How old do you have to be to kayak or paddleboard?

Accepted Answer

Participants as young as 3 years old can ride in a Tandem Kayak, two-person kayak, with an adult.

To go by yourself in a kayak/paddleboard you have to be at least 13 years old but it depends on the kid whether they are strong enough at that age to keep up with a tour.

When renting kayaks there needs to be at least one adult kayaking with minors.

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

Reservations/bookings are best made a week in advance to guarantee enough space for your group at the time you would like.

Large groups, 10 or more, should book/reserve their activity or rental a month in advance.

Sooner the better.

Day of reservations are available for most activities but available space is not guaranteed.

Day of reservations need to be made at least 3 hours before activity start time to give us time to prepare proper equipment for your group.

Question 4

What happens if it rains or there is bad weather at the time of our reservation?

Accepted Answer

We give you the option to be fully refunded or reschedule your activity for the next available time.

For 3-day kids surf camps we reschedule for the next best available time. If your not available for the rescheduled time then we can give you credit in the form of a gift card for another day of surf camp or refund a portion of the surf camp.

It weather is not too bad we may choose to still perform the surf lesson or tour but would first give you the option to refund or reschedule for another time with better weather.

Tours, lessons, and rentals may be postponed due to bad weather. In cases of delay our staff will do our best to keep everybody updated on new start times.

We may contact you in advance to let you know there will be bad weather and help to reschedule for a better time.

For a full refund the day of your activity the decision to cancel due to bad weather must be made by a Kokopelli Surf Camp associate.

Reasons for canceling: heavy rain, strong wind, extreme heat, lightning, poor water quality

How do I pay for my surf lesson, paddleboard kayak tour or rental?

Accepted Answer

Payment is made when booking online or by phone.

Payments can be made with credit or debit card online or by phone.

Tips and gratuities can be made in cash at time of activity

Payments must be made in advance to reserve your activity.

All activities are fully refundable 48hrs prior to your reservation .

In cases of bad weather and other cancelations you have the option to be refunded or rescheduled for the next available time.

Do I need to know how to kayak or paddleboard to do a tour?

Accepted Answer

No, you do not need to know how to kayak or paddleboard to do a tour with Kokopelli Surf Camp.

We give a kayak and a paddleboard lesson at the beginning of each tour. With guides that are always near by to help or give further instruction while on the water.

We are very patient with new people learning the sports of kayaking and paddleboarding. We encourage people to join us for their first time kayaking or paddleboarding!

What do I need to bring for a Paddleboard / Kayak Tour?

Accepted Answer

Footwear like sandals, water shoes, anything that connects around the ankle and that you do not mind getting into the water with.

Proper clothing. Jackets in cold weather and light clothing and sun protection in hot weather.

A bottle of water is provided for everyone on tour but your welcomed to bring another non-alcoholic drink and snack.

We also recommend bringing a towel for after the tour.

Bring a phone to get in touch in case you do not see your instructor and in case of tour updates like rescheduling in cases of bad weather.
