Queer Underground Tour of the French Quarter

Quinn gave our group the most meaningful and informative tour I’ve ever been on. She told so many interesting historical stories and was extremely knowledgeable whenever we had specific questions that came to us on the spot. I highly recommend going on this tour.

Quinn is a wonderful, knowledgeable guide, and gave us a fun and informative tour. We loved learning about all the facets of queer history in New Orleans, and Quinn had a lot of clever, funny, and thoughtful insights about the city, its history, and its people. The tour was well paced and a manageable walk regardless of fitness level (or how tired you are at the end of a long day!) I recently took the *History of the Queer Underground French Quarter Tour* in August 2024, and it was an incredible experience! Despite the intense heat and humidity, Quinn's cheerful demeanor and constant check-ins made the tour much more enjoyable. What truly stood out was Quinn's captivating storytelling, seamlessly weaving together rich bits of history about Queer life in the French Quarter. I left this educational and engaging experience feeling that I had gained a much deeper understanding of the history and cultural background of Queer life in this iconic part of New Orleans. Overall, it was a unique and enlightening tour that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in this important aspect of New Orlean's history! It is not to be missed.

Quinn’s storytelling was absolutely superb! The way that she takes us on an adventure throughout the French Quarter, really transported us back in time to how New Orleans became the city that it is today. We were absolutely amazed and happy to hear how essential the LGBTQ community was to creating the culture of NOLA. I highly recommend this walking tour to all guests, especially allies!

What an amazing and unique experience! With the overwhelming plethora of typical New Orleans ghost, vampire, and food tours, Quinn's offering was a refreshing (and educational) alternative. She was so personable and funny, and she told some amazing stories that really made the city's LGBT history come alive (we particularly enjoyed her dancing!). Like other reviewers have mentioned, you can really tell that Quinn has done her homework. She provided so much information, but she made it fun and interesting. You almost wish you could've lived during some of the times she was describing. All in all, this tour is a must-do for anyone coming to New Orleans!

Quinn‘s tour is not just an excellent opportunity to learn about queer & feminist history of New Orleans, it’s a fascinating history of the city itself. Quinn is a great storyteller and clearly loves NOLA. I highly recommend this tour.

The storytelling was excellent! It was obvious that a LOT of research had been done to bring history to life. Quinn’s sense of humor is a delightful bonus. No dry history on this tour, it was funny, and parts were poignant, and always it was informative. I would take it again.

This was great! Quin was wonderful and so knowledgeable. She was easy to follow and so engaging with our group. We had some people with health issues (back pain & stomach pain) and she made sure they were comfortable. This was my favorite tour of the trip! You won’t regret booking this.

Want a tour that isn't the same cookie-cutter experience that everyone else seems to offer? look no further. Quinn took us on a tour of the city that illuminated the dark past of New Orleans while recounting the history of the women who built the town. This queer-forward tour was refreshingly humorous and frank. Quinn was very knowledgeable in her history, she took us to multiple locations, and the explanations were extensive, valuable and engaging. If you enjoy the nuance of history like where little Richard got his start or how the neighbourhoods divided she has those answers.

If there's ever been a walking tour that made me want to completely change careers and become a full-time scholar in the topic at hand, it's this one. Quinn has a truly in-depth knowledge of the queer history both of New Orleans itself and the way broader society processes influenced it and I came away not only with a whole new body of knowledge but a million questions I wanted to dive into answering on my own time. Quinn also created a warm, accessible, and inclusive group dynamic on our tour and I really appreciated her commitment to making everyone in the group feel seen, heard, and included. When I come back to NOLA--and I'll always come back to NOLA--I look forward to doing this walking tour again!

This was far and away the best tour I went on in NOLA, and one of the best I've done in a long time. Quinn's passion for storytelling paired with her knowledge of an incredibly interesting period of time made this tour so interesting and intriguing. She told a really holistic story of the city, not just the cleansed version of white men's accomplishments that normally fill the history books. She was also conscious of how we spoke about marginalized communities while using empowering and uplifting ways to tell stories of extraordinary and ordinary people. If you're going to pick just one tour that will help you understand the city of New Orleans, this is the one.

phenomenal tour!! this was one of my favorite things i did during a week in new orleans. we learned so much about the history of new orleans from a little-known perspective. quinn was incredibly knowledgable -- i felt like the tour could've gone on all day and i wouldn't be done learning! she provided thoughtful answers for all of our questions and was also hilarious. highly recommend this tour!!

Best History Tour ever. I'm literally a person with a degree in history. I take factory tours and history and cultural tours for fun and this one tops them all. By centering folks who have rarely been centered on and reminding us of where our favorite things like jazz music really came from, this tour takes the cake. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Plus is was hilarious.
