American Mahjong Lessons with RichMahj

What you'll do:

Join RichMahj for a fun American Mahjong that will include learning, laughter, and lively competition. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by colorful Mahjong sets, the cheerful click of tiles, and a welcoming instructor ready to guide you through the game. You’ll start with a lighthearted introduction to Mahjong’s history and the beauty of its tiles, followed by hands-on practice learning the suits, special tiles, and how to read the official National Mah Jongg League card.

The atmosphere stays relaxed and social as you build walls, arrange tiles, and try your first draws and discards. Instead of a heavy rules lecture, you’ll learn through play—often in a shortened game so you can quickly experience the thrill of calling “Mahjong!” By the end, you’ll walk away - maybe with a prize - but definitely with a working knowledge of the game, a few clever strategies, and the spark of excitement that comes from discovering a new favorite pastime.

RichMahj has been teaching American Mahjong lessons in Virginia since 2024! They service Charlottesville, Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach and anywhere in between. They also offer lessons in Morehead City, NC. RichMahj has been featured in local magazines, on podcasts and on TV. Everyone has been excited to learn from their fun instructors who make sure everyone has a great time! RichMahj brings everything needed to play Mahjong if you provide the location.
