Essence Med Spa

My husband and I had a wonderful couples massage at Essence Med Spa to celebrate my milestone birthday. Monica, the owner, has created a spa that feels intimate and peaceful, with a warm and relaxing atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, we felt comfortable and well taken care of. Usha and Mariana were both attentive, professional, and skilled. The massages were the perfect combination of relaxation and therapeutic relief, and exactly what we needed to unwind together. It was such a lovely experience, and we’re so glad we chose Essence for our couples massage. We walked out feeling like a million bucks and would definitely come back. Thank you Monica, Usha, and Mariana for making our day feel extra special!

Excellent massage, friendly, skilled staff

Brought my mom here for a mother- daughter massage. The staff was amazing and we left very relaxed. We would come back and recommend to anyone in town.

If you want a spa that is simply perfect for atmosphere and hospitality, this is it! Located in a convenient area with shops and restaurants to browse before or after, Essence is the one to book.

Easy scheduling, very nice therapists; we always enjoy a trip there.

80 min massage from Sara C. Put me to sleep. Great massage.

The masseuse really knew how to give me and my partner the most relaxing and invigorating experience. Up too 300lbs or strength in deep tissue! Definitely looking to book for our next trip to Santa Barbara first day in!

Very clean interior! Nice area of town. Massages were perfect!

Essence Med Spa made my bachelorette party so special. They accommodated all 6 of us for massages and sauna time and were incredibly helpful in making the experience feel customized for our group. Everything was smooth, relaxing, and thoughtfully organized, and the staff went out of their way to make sure we felt taken care of. It was such a fun and memorable part of the celebration. Highly recommend for anyone planning a group spa experience or just looking for a great, personalized visit.

I tried massage with Ani and it was very beautiful experience. My body felt super relaxed and really better. I will definitely come back and recommend !

Great spot! Last minute idea turned out a nice relaxing experience

I have been going here for a couple of years and I love it! Monica is super responsive when I text her with questions and setting up appointments. I highly recommend doing a membership if you want regular massages or facials. They have a ton of services! My go to massage therapist are Danny and Tom. But I know all of the therapists are great!

Always a great massage!

Really enjoyed my first time coming to Essence. I was greeted by a kind woman who led me to bench to wait, as I was 15 minutes early for my appt. I don’t recommend coming early as there is no formal waiting room, but they kindly offered me tea while I waited. Don gave me a fantastic 80 min massage: combo of lymphatic drainage and a sports massage. It was my first time getting a lymphatic drainage massage and he explained the what and why clearly and efficiently. When we moved onto the sports massage - wow! He knows how to knead the knots away and also had an interesting technique of rapidly shaking the muscles. It felt like a human theragun and was very effective. The environment was calming, clean and I really enjoyed my experience. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Don for a fantastic massage.

Best body massage. Lindel was amazing!!!

The Essence team was amazing. They were able to accommodate our group of four same day during a busy holiday weekend. The location is perfect for a quick escape from the downtown activities but close enough to stroll back out and continue about where we enjoyed some lunch and wine tasting. When we arrived we immediately felt the calm and tranquil atmosphere. Very clean and tastefully decorated. I had a facial and it was the perfect treatment with minimal but informative communication where I was able to relax and enjoy. I personally don’t like a lot of talking during a treatment. Our three others received massage treatments, one couples, one single, they all thoroughly enjoyed their service with my husband noting his therapist delivered the proper amount of pressure which for him is important. Overall we four had a great experience and would love to book again.

I had one of the best massages I’ve ever had with Don. He really knew what he was doing to help down regulate my nervous system. He encouraged me to do deep breathing the entire time and I felt years of stress melt away. So glad I found this place!!

Came here for a massage while on vacation and I had the best experience! Both Monica the owner and Mario the massage therapist were so hospitable! Although I had originally booked for a 12:30 appointment I was trying to get started earlier in order to make to my train on time. Monica asked Mario to stay and preform my massage although he was done for the day and I couldn't be more grateful to him! To top it off, Monica gifted me a beautiful handmade soap bar. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area and refer friends to book at Essence because of this super pleasant experience! Thank you both for the hospitality from the heart!

What a great spa! The people were very friendly and Suzanne was amazing! Highly recommend.

I've been going to Essence Med Spa for several years now and I've always found a masseuse to fit my needs. The staff there is great and even though they are moved to a temporary location, they've made it into a great space!

I’ve been a member of Essence Spa since it opened, not only because the rates for treatments are very reasonable but the therapists are extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled in massage therapy. The new location is coming together quite nicely and offers that instant - come on in and relax feeling and I ALWAYS leave there relaxed.

I love Essence Med Spa! I have a couple favorite massage therapists including Lindel who does an amazing deep tissue massage. I also recently got my first facial with them which was also wonderful. So relaxing and my skin was glowing afterward. I have a membership which keeps me coming in regularly to get a “tune up” aka massage and you get a discount on the massage with a membership or any other service.

Very great experience! Would highly recommend.

I have been a member here for a few years. The spa massage center is always clean and the employees professional. It’s relatively easy to park and access. Every masseus is excellent.

Have been with Essence for years and reccomend them to anyone needing help with musculature or relaxation needs.

I have been going to this SPA for Long time, I always have a great experience, everyone is very nice and friendly! Great service. Very highly recommended!

Last year, while visiting Santa Barbara for the first time, we had the opportunity to book a wonderful massage at Essence Med Spa. This year we returned to Santa Barbara again, and booked again a most relaxing massage for both my husband and me. Ann did an amazing massage, as we were both sore after a long day walking around. Monica was very helpful with booking a same day massage. Essence Med Spa is our go-to place for wonderful relaxing massages. We'll be returning soon.

This is a beautiful place—just updated by the new owner, Monica. The staff is great and the owner is lovely. Each of the therapists I tried were very good at the type of massage they gave me. I definitely recommend it!

I received a very good treatment at Essence Medical Spa, managed by Monica. Dr. Joffrey was my provider and he was very professional and knowledgeable. He made me feel comfortable throughout the whole treatment. I really like my results!! I highly recommend this place. - Angelica Mendoza

My mom received PDO thread treatment by Dr. Buck Joffrey and wow, what a difference. She was reluctant at the idea at first, but after meeting Dr. Joffrey, she was impressed by his level of professionalism and expertise in his field. He is a perfectionist and his work truly shows it. Not only can I see the difference in her face immediately, but I can also feel a certain confidence exuding from her, and it makes me so happy to see her happy! Highly recommend Essence Medical Spa, Monica the owner, and Dr. Buck Joffrey.
