Peter was an excellent instructor! My daughters had a fantastic time. He also did a great job communicating with them, even though they don't speak English very well, and he made the whole morning so much fun!

I took a group class last summer, and another 90-minute class today with Peter, and both were great! We learned about the boards, basic safety, and practiced popping up on the sand before going in the water. He helps you catch a few waves first before you paddle out and try to catch one yourself, and gave me tips to improve so I don’t develop bad form/habits! I saw some other reviews about the location being hard to find, but they send a very detailed text with exactly where to find them (just read them and you won’t get lost). Highly recommend!

With absolutely no prior surfing experience, I booked a private lesson with an instructor. Booking online through the Surfs Up NY website was even possible two hours before the scheduled time without any problems. Another positive impression was that Pete, the surf instructor, contacted me personally very quickly after booking and was very accommodating. I was able to easily complete the necessary paperwork online before the lesson. At the meeting point, Pete gave me a warm welcome. He immediately made a relaxed, friendly, and professional impression. He provided me with a beginner's surfboard and a wetsuit. On the beach, he taught me everything I needed to know about surfboards and how to best stand up. Then we went straight into the water. We were lucky that day, and the waves were good. With his support, I was able to try riding a wave several times, which became easier with each attempt. Pete observed what I was doing and provided constructive criticism, which made the learning curve pleasantly steep. He always had time for a few words of encouragement. After the lesson, we chatted casually. Overall, Pete delivered exactly what I had imagined and hoped for. I'm already looking forward to another lesson with him.

Peter Did a great job with my 11 and 14 year olds

I had my very first surf lesson with SurfsUp NY, and it was an incredible experience! My instructor, Peter, was patient, knowledgeable, and explained everything so clearly that I felt comfortable from the very beginning. What impressed me the most was how accommodating he was. My ferry was delayed, so I arrived late, but Peter was incredibly flexible and adjusted the lesson so I didn’t miss out. He also helped me reschedule when my original plans changed, and I truly appreciated his understanding. Peter’s positive attitude and encouragement made my day, and thanks to him, my first surfing experience was unforgettable. I’m so grateful and would highly recommend SurfsUp NY to anyone who wants to learn to surf. I can’t wait to come back!
