Amazing Tacos! The alambre tacos were the bomb! I’m from El Paso so tacos are a big thing and they match up really good. Salsa was also delicious! A must try!
I had a fantastic experience at Twisted Trompo! The food was incredibly tasty and felt authentically traditional. I tried the tacos with carnitas and chicken, both were flavorful, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. You can tell they put real care into their ingredients and preparation. On top of that, the service was outstanding friendly, attentive, and fast. Definitely a spot I’ll be returning to. Highly recommend!
Twisted Trompo was an absolute lifesaver! We stumbled across this spot in Downtown Dallas, and I’m so glad we did. The food was really good flavorful, fresh, and definitely hit the spot. If I had to describe it, I’d say it’s a solid Mexican restaurant with a twist. Whether you’re in the area and need a quick bite or just craving some good Mexican food, this place is worth checking out. Great service, tasty food, and a chill vibe can’t ask for more.
My teenage daughters and I walked here from our hotel a few blocks away. We don't eat meat but we were able to find some very good stuff on the menu. Portion size, food taste, atmosphere, and service were all great.
I will definitely come again! The quesabirria was freakin' delicious and the Mexican Candy drink was also amazing. The bartenders, Sonia & Javier were very nice and attentive. The kitchen cook, Cecil, did an excellent job making this scrumptious food! I enjoyed that the quesabirria was perfectly fried with a light crispy crunch. The boxing fight was playing on the tv at the bar and they also had a DJ who played a great variety of music!
We went around midnight on a Saturday and this was one of the highlights! Ordered the taco plate, elote and a horchata. The tacos were excellent- we had steak and chicken. The meat was seasoned perfectly and tender! The elote was excellent. The horchata was fresh and perfectly made. My husband and I shared a 5 taco plate and it was the perfect size to split! The atmosphere was vibrant and the dj was a fun twist. Service was quick and friendly. The dining area was clean woth plenty of seating/tables to choose from. This place was incredible! We need one in Oklahoma!
Twisted Trompo was an absolutely great spot! I stumbled across this vibrant restaurant in Downtown Dallas, and I’m so glad we did. The food was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and definitely hit the spot. I tried the carne asada burrito, which was generously stuffed with tender, juicy meat and flavorful spices, and the El Pastor street tacos, which featured succulent, marinated pork topped with fresh cilantro and onions. If I had to describe it, I’d say it’s a solid Mexican restaurant with a creative twist, offering authentic flavors with a modern touch.
I had lemonada, churros, and Chicken Flautas they were so good!!! Both salsas they have are really good. One of the best after concert snack places!!
Stopped for a bite to eat in Downtown Dallas, it's such a nice, open and cozy atmosphere to walk into! The service was fast and friendly and best of all, the steak burrito and comfort fries were delicious! A nice way to end our walking around here before we head back to the suburbs. We'll be back!
Delicious food! Had the Trompo Pastor Burrito today and it was 10/10. The salsa was really good too. Highly recommend checking them out
Twisted trompo is a downtown Dallas gem. You consistently will get more than enough meat in tacos or in the quesadilla and that for me is key. They don't cut corners with the meat quality which is big for me. The staff is friendly and anytime I'm in a rush to grab something downtown this place always hits a home run for me!
Very delicious tacos and Mexican rice. I tried a variety of tacos and I was very satisfied with the freshness and flavor. I would highly recommend the tacos and will definitely order from them again!
After reading the reviews here, we decided to try Twisted Trompo Tacos, especially since it was within walking distance of our hotel. We had the tacos with carnitas and the salad with carnitas. The carnitas was flavorful and moist. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back the next time we visit Dallas.
Food was very tasty and super nice presentation for a lunch plate. I had the chicken flautas and a taco! Flavor range was delicious and not to pricey!! Nice kinda quick bar grab and go or enjoy the TV's or street view.
Steak tacos! The food was so good! The queso and chips is a MUST and the steak tacos with avocado are delicious. We visited there twice during our stay here in Dallas! Yum yum! The staff are very nice as well. Clean place to eat. Can’t wait to come back again! Don’t miss out on twisted trompo tacos!
I walked in hungry and left stuffed. The al pastor was spinning so slow and juicy I had to fan myself. Ordered the birria tacos, three of them, dripping like they’d just run a marathon, and a carnitas burrito so thick I needed both hands. The server slid another plate my way and winked, “Still room for more meat?” Ma’am, I made room. I made space. By the time I tackled the quesadilla, my belt was begging for mercy and the table looked like a crime scene of cilantro and lime. Cocktails? The spicy marg hit like a back-road curve. Sharp, hot, and left me seeing stars. The horchata was sweet relief after all that… protein. They close at midnight, but I swear the grill stayed fired up just to
Best taco I had. Came over for VEX Robotics Competition with my kid and came two nights in a row because it was so good. A must try!
Fast and affordable Speedy service and delicious food. We ordered ahead for a large group off their “large party” menu. It was more than enough food and extremely affordable. Cheapest meal we ate all week.
Great street tacos Visited twice during a recent visit to downtown Dallas. Nice place for fast, order at the window, tacos. The chicken tacos were very good. There is also a full bar if you want a margarita.
Coming from LA, I was looking for some tacos similar to back home. Wanted no nonsense street tacos, so was pleased that it was similar with corn tortilla, meat, onion and cilantro. I got the 5 taco plate with asada and al pastor, subbing out the beans/rice for tortilla chips. Next time I come back to Dallas, I know where to go for tacos.
Great spot. Walked here from the hotel and they had an actual trompo spinning (always a good sign). The prices are fair and the ambience is nice. I appreciate the windows into the cooking area as I enjoy seeing the process. The staff is helpful and friendly. Ordered Al Pastor (of course) and they did not disappoint. They offered two salsa - one mild (green) and one hot (orange). Both were tasty and as spicy as advertised. I'll be up front about my personal bias here - tacos Al pastor tacos are my favorite thing. Seeing an actual trompo nowadays makes me happier than seeing Disney world did as a kid. Twisted trompo hit the spot and if/when I'm back in Dallas, I'll return here every time.

Authentic taco spot in downtown Dallas! Walking in, I knew the place would be awesome when I saw the trompos! Tried all three (pastor, pollo, y asada) and they were all great. Quick service with a full bar. Happy hour at this spot is a must! Pro Tip: if you order the tacos definitely mix and match the meats!
This place is amazing! The food is fresh and delicious, and the staff is super friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, perfect for any meal. I had a great time here and will definitely come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for tasty food and good service!
5 stars! My daughters and I were looking for a quick dinner close to our hotel and decided to give this place a try. Highly recommend. We had the chips and queso, chicken quesadilla, and the street tacos (steak, al pastor, and chicken), along w a side of rice and beans. Everything was flavorful and authentic. And the price for 3 people was excellent. My little one said this place gets 5 stars! And she is a tough critic when it comes to food! Lol
The Bottom Line: There's not many options for casual lunch in Dallas' Downtown Historic District, but Twisted Trompo has very well made Mexican fare with enough "twists" for it to be the stand-out in any neighborhood. I was in town, staying at a hotel nearby. Twisted Trompo was one of the only food options within walking distance but I wasn't disappointed by the end of the meal. The quesadilla: amazingly simple and no frills (tortilla, cheese, meat) however that doesn't mean it wasn't good. I was impressed by the menu of protein options and I can imagine myself coming back to try them all. However the star of the meal had to be the Twisted Fries. I enjoy any time you can take french fries and dressed them up with toppings. Honestly the combination of fries, cheese, sour cream, green onions, jalapenos, and your choice of meat gives poutine a run for its money. Here's a tip: If you find yourself at Twisted Trompo you're in the middle of hotel and office building land- there maybe a little bit of a lunch rush.
SO. DARN. GOOD. some of the BEST if not THE BEST tacos I’ve ever had!!! If you want elevated authentic cuisine at a respectable price, you NEED to try this place out! Food was fresh and quick service too (even with a party of 7)! Took a pic (a taco is missing bc I simply couldn’t wait to eat them).
Twisted Trompo is a flavor-packed gem! The tacos are next level—perfectly seasoned meats with bold, creative twists. The vibe is casual and fun, and the service is always on point. Whether you're a taco lover or trying something new, this spot delivers every time!
