Reviews for Fernweh Hillside: Hill Country Cottages with Pool, Hot Tub, Pickleball & River Access

We stayed here as a family in October and absolutely loved it. The 2br was perfect for us with three kids, and the kids loved running around outside, swimming in the pool, and playing pickleball on the court. It's a great space for families or families and friends and is in a great condition. We're hoping to return when family is visiting and get two places at Fernweh with them, so we can enjoy the pickleball court and check out some of the live music venues around the area. The house was well appointed for cooking meals at home too--we had everything we needed to make mac and cheese, toast, eggs, etc. for feeding kids fast. Overall a great stay and we'd love to come back soon.

The place is beautiful. Our family loved it. I stayed in Little House #4. The rest of us in the house. Where the kids could jump in the pool and play pickleball. It was very Clean has all you can possibly Need. From coffee maker to remote air conditioner.

We really enjoyed this place. Brand new and has all the amenities we needed. The hot tub was amazing along with the pool and pickle ball court to boot. Even better we were able to go across the street to access the river through their Riverside property. Highly recommend for all sized groups. We will definitely be returning.

We were invited and we had an amazing time. The Tiny House had everything we needed. A friend of mine said we went “Glamp-ing”! The area is scenic and close to the river! I highly recommend!

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The house was clean and there was a little too much hot water. Haha. The grounds were kept up, and the pool was perfect for the littles. We will definitely be returning for another family getaway!!

We had a fantastic time at this property with all our Texas family. Beautiful property and fantastic homes. Very clean and well maintained. Pickle ball court and the pool with hot tub was well used by everyone also. Definitely added to our enjoyment. We will definitely be back.

We just held our second large family reunion here and we absolutly love this location. The river access is wonderful and the waters are calm enough for the kiddos to swim at this location. The housing and location were our favorite features. The kids can all swim or play pickleball while the adults visit and enjoy our company together. The accommodations are luxury with fantastic window views and natural light. Beds are comfortable and every room gives you the “we want to live here” vibes. One of our favorite river stays! Highly recommend this place for small or large family gatherings! Looking forward to booking our 2026 family reunion!

We were part of a big 50th Birthday Celebration weekend and Fernweh Hillside was the perfect fit. We stayed in a 1 bedroom and were very satisfied with it. Very clean and LOVED the big windows and the kids enjoyed the pool. The river was great and we will definitely book again!

Absolute gem! Private, tucked away up against the river. If you know river road, you know it’s busy, but not here. Perfect atmosphere from the on site bar, to the spacious area between each cabin down to the pool/ jacuzzi! Very attentive to every need, my phone even got lost and they saved it for me! Highly recommend

Cabin was clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with dishware and appliances. We took advantage of all the amenities on-site including the pool and river access at the sister property. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would book another stay in the future.

Absolutely loved our stay! We stayed at Fernweh Hillside. First, the management/owners are Absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond for our group. We are a tad bit particular they moved us from the riverside to the hilltop (nothing wrong with riverside but really liked the hillside once we arrived). Anessa (not sure of spelling) got our new room ready, even grabbed us a bag of ice, and had a tooth brush delivered. The cabins are amazing, the pool and amenities were just what we needed, we took advantage of the free shuttle ride to the river float... we do an annual girls trip every year and try a new place..we are definitely returning here! 10/10 recommend!

We loved this little community of rentals! Such a cute spot with great amenities. The homes were adorable, the beds were comfortable, and everything was very clean. We felt right at home and will definitely be returning!

Highly recommend staying here! We stayed for the week of Fourth of July and though the weather wasn’t the best, we still had a wonderful time and made great memories. We have a 3 year old and an 1 year old, both boys! Our cabin was well furnished with plenty of bath towels, beach towels, extra pillows, blankets, games, and the basic kitchen necessities. Thoughtful touches like a Brita water pitcher, outlet extension with usb and 30w fast charging ports and make up wipes! The pavilion and grill station were perfect for our whole group to hang at. We had two other cabins with friends staying as well. We spent a lot of time at the pool and pickleball court because the river was a bit too cold for the kiddos. Everyone staying there was so friendly and lovely to chat with! Our trip ended with crazy rain and a bit of flooding. The owners were more than helpful and accommodating to be sure we got out safe. We saw them frequently through out our stay and they were always making sure we had what we needed! This was our first time there but definitely won’t be our last. We’ve had many stays on River Road but this has been the best accommodations and hospitality! Helpful things to bring: seasonings (there was salt there), cooking oil/butter, foil, and Tupperware or ziplocks to store food.. oh and mosquito spray! You are at the river after all!!
