My wife and I had the pleasure of spending three nights at Camp DeForest in Maine, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we were somewhere special. We were warmly welcomed by Mac, who checked us in, gave us the lay of the land, and immediately made us feel at home. He even made us some of the best hotdogs we have ever had, which set the tone for the kind of thoughtful, personal hospitality we experienced throughout our stay. Devin and Ben were just as wonderful, each one of them going out of their way to be kind, helpful, and genuinely present in every interaction. We stayed in the Pine cabin, and it was everything we hoped it would be. Every aspect of the space felt carefully and intentionally crafted to evoke a feeling that is rare these days. It truly felt like stepping back into a memory. The cabin was warm, inviting, and full of character. Modern amenities blended effortlessly with custom design touches and handpicked vintage pieces, creating a space that felt both fresh and deeply familiar at the same time. That same level of care carries through the entire camp. We found ourselves constantly in awe of the details, the atmosphere, and the genuine kindness of every staff member we encountered. One of our favorite parts of the experience was the Book of Merits, which encouraged us to explore Lincolnville and collect stamps along the way. It added a sense of adventure and playfulness to each day. We also stayed up late playing the Camp DeForest card game, which was so excellent that we brought a deck home with us, along with more than a few provisions from the camp store. I could honestly write pages more about how wonderful this experience was. The only way to know if it could possibly get any better is to return again and again. And we absolutely will.

We had the best two night stay. My friend and I had a little girls trip away and midcoast Maine was a perfect spot for us to get away and enjoy some time outside and in local thrifts, and coffee shops. We will for sure be back to Camp DeForest- it is the most unique stay I've had! The decor and vibes are unmatched.

We celebrated our 37 year anniversary with a trip to Maine for leaf change. This is our 3rd trip to Maine after visiting all 50 states. I have Marriott's Ambassador status which is les than 1% of their members so when I tell you Camp DeForest is a five star resort, I know what I'm talking about. We met the owners who paid great attention to detail when the resort was remodeled. We have remodeled and built, after several tear downs, many properties so we notice these things that one may not appreciate at first glance. They probably spent way more to preserve this 1955 retro resort and it shows. The artifacts (my description) they used to decorate and appoint the rooms and lodge are truly amazing. The staff was very happy to make all our wants happen. The rooms are very quiet even though it is on US1 and conveniently situated between Belfast and Camden. That says a lot about the insulation and windows quality. The bed was so comfortable and my 6'5", 280 lbs. husband never brags about the beds when we travel, but he did several times. The grounds are immaculate and also landscaped with relaxation in mind. I am sure there are any details I enjoyed. We're looking forward to coming back soon!

My husband and I booked a room at Camp Deforest as part of our Maine honeymoon. We originally booked because the price and distance were reasonable for us to take a day trip to Acadia. However after seeing the room we quickly wished we had booked more time here. I feel like the people who designed these rooms really thought about what people look for when traveling and then some with all the touches they’ve put into this hotel. They had some small touches that you don’t normally see in hotels that were great to see; a toothbrush holder, makeup remover pads and Q-tips, and a very secure deadbolt. The camp theme is impressively cohesive throughout and very fun but more importantly, the room was very clean and organized. The bed was extremely comfortable. Overall this is one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in. We were very pleasantly surprised to find out that they have a free breakfast as well! Including some homemade banana bread. As well as the things listed above, the overall atmosphere was relaxing, fun and nostalgic. Large in part to the “camp counselors” who all seemed to truly enjoy working here and were extremely personable and helpful. We also had so much fun with all the games that are available to play and fires that are there to enjoy. I tend to never leave reviews, let alone lengthy reviews, however this place was so great I felt like I needed to. My husband and I are very much looking forward to coming back next year.

We had such a wonderful, relaxing time at Camp DeForest. We were blown away by the tasteful, impeccably designed decor. The construction was high quality and beautifully done with the addition of tastefully repurposed vintage pieces carefully arranged throughout . The cabin was so cozy and relaxing, the fire pit area was adorable and staff was available to ensure that we had a fire ready for us. We spent a perfect Saturday climbing Mt. Megunticook which is just a few miles down the road and right outside of Camden center. We had lunch at Cafe Louis in Camden - say the adorable bar and enjoyed delicious cocktails and authentic Latin fusion food. I can’t say enough about Camp DeForest. We will definitely be back! It was tough to leave on Sunday morning- we all agreed we wish we had had another week to relax and soak up the many gifts the stunning area has to offer. Do not hesitate - you won’t be disappointed.

This place is so cool! The camp-themed design is adorable and totally reminded me of the Wes Anderson movie Moonrise Kingdom. I don't think I've ever stayed in such a fun and playful hotel. We stayed in the Pine Cabin, which was spacious and comfortable. It had two daybeds that were perfect for my 3 yr old to jump on and play and the full-sized table gave us plenty of room to eat, draw, and spread out. The main bed was big and super comfortable and the blackout curtains were a gamechanger - we both actually slept in, which never happens! The bathroom was spa-like with heated floors and a large shower. Every little detail made it feel like a luxurious cabin retreat. The service was great, every single staff member we met was kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay feel special. On our first night we brought our own smores supplies and one of the staff (I think his name was Mack) brought us skewers, started our fire, and kept it going with fresh logs. I am not one for starting fires or keeping them going so I appreciated that! In the field behind our cabin they had disc golf, cornhole, horseshoes, and there were even kayak rentals. We didn't rent a kayak but had lots of fun playing with the other activities. Inside the lobby there were board games too and shuffleboard so even if it was raining there were activities available. The staff also gave great suggestions for nearby activities and food stops. Overall, the attention to detail in the theme, the design, and the entire experience is seriously impressive, you can definitely feel the love and care that went into creating this space. I wish I took more pictures because the ones I have don't do it justice! We will definitely be coming back and I would recommend Camp DeForest to anyone staying in the area. Truly a hidden gem in Maine!

I came with a group of friends for a combination group birthday party and labor day Celebration. Our trip was lovely. We could feel NYC living melting off off us. There is something lux and wholesome about Camp deForest. We all had our own private spaces but it was lovely to come and go between the rooms and meet in the common areas. We also met several other campers that we'll definitely stay in touch with. There was so much to do at camp. We ventured out to the beach and to a few great restaurants but mostly we hug out at camp. There's so much to do there! It was also perfect for the kids.

We LOVED our stay at Camp DeForest and we can’t wait to come back! We’ve been coming to the area for 20 years to visit grandparents when we stumbled across Camp DeForest and it far exceeded our expectations. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, the lodge was a perfect spot to hang out over breakfast in the mornings, the camp fire spots and picnic tables were perfect for hosting family dinner and the cabins (we stayed in Maple and Pine) were clean, beautiful and adorable- very Wes Anderson meets 1950s camp in the best way. Decorating this place must have been a lot of fun! The staff was so warm and gracious and further added to the experience. Our whole family loved our experience at Camp DeForest and we can’t wait to come back next summer!

We had a great time visiting Camp Deforest! They have put time into perfecting so many small details that make it a truly wonderful stay. Very comfortable beds, fun yard games, and we were fortunate to have a fire pit to ourselves both nights we stayed! All the staff we interacted with were very friendly, and it’s in a great location in close proximity to Camden and other surrounding areas. Ocean access a small walk right across the street too!

We spent a couple nights here and absolutely loved it. The room was extremely clean with amazing decor and great amenities like the retro mini fridge, cute tube amp Bluetooth speaker and fast, stable wi-fi. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were cozy, we slept so well! The grounds were well-groomed featuring several fire pits for guests to enjoy and a lodge with cozy seating, a curated selection of coffee table reading materials, a quaint upright piano, and even a shuffleboard. Every member of the staff was friendly, accommodating, and were genuinely interested in making sure we were having a great stay. The overall design and brand of DeForest exceeded our expectations, you can tell they put so much love and intention into the whole experience. As hospitality connoisseurs this was one of the most memorable stays we’ve had in a long time. We will definitely be back!

We had a blast at camp deforest! We stayed with a group and everything was arranged into details before arrival. From pre check-in text messages to packed campfires with smores, they went beyond expectations for us. The rooms and cabins were very spacious, luxury toiletries in the bathroom, camp themed decorations and their housekeeping is very detailed oriented. The only thing I could say is I wish we booked for two nights! We will be back!
