About this Experience

What you'll do:

Strap into a side-by-side, grip the wheel, and pick your line up a slab of slickrock that doesn't look drivable until you're halfway up it.

  • Drive your own UTV – You take the wheel through the rugged backcountry near Hurricane, Utah, with a licensed guide leading the line ahead of you.

  • Tackle real rock crawling terrain – You crawl over boulders, ledges, and steep inclines that demand throttle control, not speed.

  • Read the trail with your guide – You learn how to spot your line, pick your tires, and use low gear to climb obstacles that look impossible from the bottom.

  • Stop for the views – You pause at overlooks across red rock canyons and open desert toward the Zion backcountry for photos and breath-catching.

  • Push your skill level – You go as technical as you're comfortable with, whether it's your first time behind a UTV or your fifteenth.

Two hours in, your forearms know they did something, your camera roll is full, and you've driven through terrain most visitors to Southern Utah only see from a viewpoint.

Why we love it for your adventure group:

  • Licensed guide leads every group – Keeps the route safe and shows you the techniques that make hard obstacles doable.

  • Premium damage waiver included – Caps your out-of-pocket at $1,500 so you can actually push the machine instead of babying it.

  • Helmets, goggles, and water provided – Show up with closed-toe shoes, and you're ready to go.

  • Small-group format – You get real coaching and real seat time, not a conga line of forty UTVs.

  • Near Zion, not Moab – A guided UTV tour near Zion National Park means you can stack this with a park day instead of driving four hours east.

About this experience partner:

Mad Moose Rentals is a locally owned outfitter based in Southern Utah, running guided UTV tours and off-road adventures across the red rock country near Hurricane, St. George, and the Zion corridor. The team is built from guides who grew up riding this terrain and know which obstacles to throw at first-timers and which to save for groups looking to test themselves. Guests consistently call out the guides for being patient with beginners while still delivering the technical rock crawling experience that advanced drivers came for.
