About this Experience
What you'll do:
You'll forge a sterling silver ring by hand from raw wire to finished piece, guided step by step through techniques professional jewelers actually use.
Ring sizing: You start by properly measuring your finger so the ring fits exactly right before you cut a single piece of metal.
Wire cutting and shaping: Using jeweler's pliers, you cut and bend your sterling silver wire into the precise form your chosen ring design calls for.
Torch soldering: Your instructor walks you through lighting and handling a jeweler's torch to solder the ring closed, one of the most satisfying moments in the process.
Sanding and polishing: You finish the ring through a series of sanding and buffing steps that bring out the natural luster of the silver.
Choosing your design: Several ring project options are available so you can pick a style that fits your taste, from simple bands to more detailed shapes.
You leave wearing a ring you made yourself, sized to your finger, built from real sterling silver. No prior experience needed, and all tools and materials are included.
Why we love it for your party:
Creative focus: The hands-on process keeps everyone engaged from start to finish, no dead time between courses or lulls in conversation.
A keepsake worth keeping: Each person walks away with a durable sterling silver ring they actually made, not a candle or tote bag that ends up in a drawer.
Runs at its own pace: Sessions flex between 2.5 and 3 hours, giving your group room to enjoy the process without feeling rushed.
Fits a range of occasions: The class works equally well for bachelorette parties, birthday groups, team building events, family reunions, and bridal showers.
Comes to you: For groups of four or more, Hali travels to your home or venue within 50 miles of West Chester, PA, so you can build the class into a larger celebration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can each person in the group make a different ring?
Your group must choose the same workshop, but you each may select different ring patterns or stones within the respective classes. For example, the Patterned Stacking Ring class will have 5 different patterns to choose from. Hammered Rings, will have 3 textures to choose from, and the Stone Set Rings will have 3 different bands, and 7 different colored stones to choose from!
Are tools and materials included in the purchase of the class?
Materials are included in the cost of your class; you will receive sterling silver, sandpaper, a ring sizer, and a polishing cloth - for yours to keep! The tools belong to HKM Jewelry and will be provided for you to use during the workshop.
Do you offer more than just ring classes?
YES! Classes and workshops range in topic, skill level, price, and style - at a variety of locations and dates within the Tri-State Area. You can see a list of upcoming workshops on my website, or book a private workshop via email. hali@hkmjewelry.com
Can I get a refund if I need to cancel?

Are there any skill requirements?
No! I love beginners, and existing metalsmith are always welcome. There are many methods to the madness and all you need is a little curiosity and perseverance.
What techniques will you cover in class?
All ring classes cover measuring correctly, sawing, soldering, hammering, filing, sanding and polishing. The Stone Set Ring class will cover basic bezel setting.
How much space do you need to set up in my home?
It depends on how many students you have. I will bring up to 3 tables to work on. One 2.5’ x 6’ plastic table for the torch work, and two 3’ x 5’ wooden work tables that seat 5 people each. We can discuss the space you have available via email and I can work within almost any limitations. hali@hkmjewelry.com
Can we drink alcohol and eat food during class?
Once the work is done, you may - but I require you to be of sound mind and body when using any equipment that can cause injury to you or others, if you are under the influence of any substance. We can take a break for snacks, but there is no food or drink allowed at my work tables due to the risk of the tools rusting, and chemicals contaminating your food.
