Jewelry Making Workshop: Sterling Silver Ring Class

About this Experience

What you'll do:

Make your own sterling silver rings by hand! Come to the HKM Jewelry studio in West Chester PA, or Hali will come to you! All the tools and materials will be provided for you to properly measure your ring size, cut your silver wire, and form it with pliers. Using a torch, you will solder it, and then sand, polish, and finish your ring. Each ring will come out unique, just like its maker!

Why we love it for your party:

  • Flex those creative muscles and learn modern metalsmithing techniques

  • The rings are durable, wearable reminders of cherished memories together

  • Choose from several different ring making projects to fit your style

  • Unlike permanent jewelry, the rings and memories you'll make will last a lifetime

About this experience partner:

Jewelry making is perfect for forging new traditions with your friends, birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, company team building activities, family reunions, and any special event that could use a meaningful, and lasting heirloom to honor it.

What Students are saying:

"...Honestly, we were a bit hesitant at first. Neither of us had any experience with jewelry-making, and we weren’t sure what to expect. But wow — it turned out to be life changing. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Our instructor was nothing short of extraordinary — incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about the craft. Hali walked us through every step with such clarity and encouragement that any nerves we had quickly disappeared. What started as a simple evening activity became one of the most meaningful and fun experiences we’ve ever shared as a couple. We left with rings we made ourselves (which still blows our minds!) and a memory we’ll carry forever. If you’re even slightly considering this class — do it. It’s not just about making rings. It’s about connection, creativity, and stepping out of your comfort zone in the best way possible." - Candace M

Frequently Asked Questions

Can each person in the group make a different ring?

Your group must choose the same workshop, but you each may select different ring patterns or stones within the respective classes. For example, the Patterned Stacking Ring class will have 5 different patterns to choose from. Hammered Rings, will have 3 textures to choose from, and the Stone Set Rings will have 3 different bands, and 7 different colored stones to choose from!

Are tools and materials included in the purchase of the class?

Materials are included in the cost of your class; you will receive sterling silver, sandpaper, a ring sizer, and a polishing cloth - for yours to keep! The tools belong to HKM Jewelry and will be provided for you to use during the workshop.

Do you offer more than just ring classes?

YES! Classes and workshops range in topic, skill level, price, and style - at a variety of locations and dates within the Tri-State Area. You can see a list of upcoming workshops on my website, or book a private workshop via email. hali@hkmjewelry.com

Can I get a refund if I need to cancel?

HKM Jewelry does not offer a refund for cancelled workshops. Once a booking is reserved, that date is no longer available to anyone else. However, we understand that things happen, so please let me know as soon as possible via email, and I may be able to accommodate on a case by case basis.

Are there any skill requirements?

No! I love beginners, and existing metalsmith are always welcome. There are many methods to the madness and all you need is a little curiosity and perseverance.

What techniques will you cover in class?

All ring classes cover measuring correctly, sawing, soldering, hammering, filing, sanding and polishing. The Stone Set Ring class will cover basic bezel setting.

How much space do you need to set up in my home?

It depends on how many students you have. I will bring up to 3 tables to work on. One 2.5’ x 6’ plastic table for the torch work, and two 3’ x 5’ wooden work tables that seat 5 people each. We can discuss the space you have available via email and I can work within almost any limitations. hali@hkmjewelry.com

Can we drink alcohol and eat food during class?

Once the work is done, you may - but I require you to be of sound mind and body when using any equipment that can cause injury to you or others, if you are under the influence of any substance. We can take a break for snacks, but there is no food or drink allowed at my work tables due to the risk of the tools rusting, and chemicals contaminating your food.
