About this Experience

What you'll do:

You watch your living room transform into a stage and then realize you're part of the show.

  • Meet your magician – Ian introduces himself and sets the tone, making everyone in the room feel included from the first moment.

  • Watch close-up magic – Ian performs sleight of hand and illusions right in front of you and your guests, so there's nowhere to hide and nothing to miss.

  • Get pulled into the act – Guests become part of the performance. Expect to be called on, handed a card, and thoroughly astonished.

  • Experience the full show – The performance builds across the hour with storytelling, visual gags, and routines calibrated to your group's energy.

  • End with a moment – Ian closes with something designed specifically for your occasion, giving your party a finish worth talking about.

Every private magic show is shaped around the people in the room. Whether it's a birthday, a holiday gathering, or any reason to celebrate, your guests will be talking about it on the drive home.

Why we love it for your party:

  • Comes to you – Ian performs at your home or venue, so there's no coordinating transportation or dealing with a second location.

  • Fully interactive – This isn't a sit-and-watch show. Guests of all ages get involved, which keeps energy high throughout.

  • Magic Castle credentials – Ian is a Magician Member of The Magic Castle, one of the most respected magic venues in the world. That's a rare qualifier for a private event magician in LA.

  • Custom-built for your group – Ian tailors routines to your occasion, your guests, and the vibe you're going for. No generic set list.

  • Works for mixed groups – Adults, kids, and everyone in between stay engaged. It's a rare format that genuinely lands across age groups.

Frequently Asked Questions

I've never booked a magician - what do I do?

If you're thinking about adding magic to your event, the easiest and best way to get started is to reach out to Ian directly. Magic can fit into nearly any event, and a quick phone call is the fastest way to figure out how it works best for yours. You'll also get all the details you need on rates, experience, and any other questions right away.

What types of magic do you do?

I perform professionally as a strolling (walk-around), close-up, parlor, and stage magician. For parties of 2 - 25 people, close-up works well. For larger parties, parlor magic works perfectly. If you have a huge event and need me to weave through the crowd for an hour or several, I can do that, too. It depends on your event. :)

If I want to move forward, how do I book you?

Booking is easy through common electronic payment types like Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal. Credit Cards are also accepted. I generate a simple contract that details the party, time, and location.

Do you have custom options? How much does that cost?

Yes - I will often create props from photos of the guests and guests of honor, which are then put directly into the show. This makes every show I do unique to the party I am performing for. There is an additional cost depending on how much customization you want to do, but I would say about 95% of the shows I do contain at least one customized routine. It makes things super special for everyone.

What is your magic show like?

My magic show is a mix of close-up and parlor effects, based on the size of your party. I perform with cards, coins, photographs & small props - and also make the show about everyone in the room. The experience is highly collaborative, extremely interactive, and fun! There are jokes, gags, and heartfelt moments - magic just has a way of being great entertainment, and I strive to provide you and your party with a one-of-a-kind magic experience you will never forget. When using custom props made from photos of your party guests and the guest of honor, the experience becomes even more special.

Will you pretend you are a stripper so we can surprise out guest of honor?

While I have been asked to do that, I am a professional magician and like to stick to what I know. I have surprised guests of honor by setting up before they get to the room. When the party leads them into the room, they see a full magic show ready to go - and that works great as a surprise!

Are you insured?

You bet! If you need me to provide my proof of coverage (known as a COI) for your event, I have that emailed to you or the person who needs to file it.

What is a Magician Member of The Magic Castle and are you one?

A Magician Member of The Magic Castle is someone who has auditioned as a magician to gain membership to The Magic Castle. The Magic Castle is a private magic club in Hollywood, California, that functions as a restaurant and place to see magic. There are various performance theaters to watch close-up, parlor, and stage magic, and also other spaces to see Magician Members perform their custom routines. Yes, I'm a member. :)

What do you do as resident magician at The Aster?

As resident magician at The Aster, I perform at member and public events in strolling (walk-around) and cabaret magic in the hotel's cabaret room. My cabaret shows are open to the public, so check my website if you would like to attend one. The Aster is located at the historic Hollywood and Vine intersection in Los Angeles. :)
