The Vibrant Kerns Hood Food Tour - East Burnside and More

What you'll do:

In this Portland food tour, we will explore the charming streets of the Kerns neighborhood where we will sample some of the tastiest bites that Portland has to offer. This once-sleepy neighborhood has blossomed into a Portland bazaar for diverse and delicious treats. Our several stops will create a varied and scrumptious meal and whet your appetite for what the Kerns has to offer. Examples on this Portland culinary tour will include ethnic contributions such as Jaliscan and Bretagne food, as well as a visit to an eclectic outdoor food hall, approachable (not raw) sushi burritos, dessert from an artisanal gelato shop, and more. One alcoholic beverage and one non-alcoholic beverage is included.

You will not leave hungry! While the Kerns extends more broadly, its core is centered on Restaurant Row, on NE 28th between Burnside and Glisan St. We will walk a total of 1.3 miles through tree-lined streets and hipster hangouts while we visit a handful of foodie hot spots in the Kerns neighborhood. Along the way, we will also talk about the history of the Kerns and take in some classical Portland residential architecture.

Hi! I’m Sherri. And I admit I’ve been a food lover since I could walk! Guests often ask how I got started giving Portland food tours. Well, in 2018, I created Portland by Mouth to share my love of ingredients, eating, nutrition, cooking, honoring experimental and creative chefs, culture, travel & creating community around food. Some of my most favored activities!

Myself and other guides are all Portlanders through and through - and we all delight in meeting locals and visitors who share a love of food, adventure, and our quirky city!

Additional information:

• We walk about 1.5 miles in total, please wear comfortable walking shoes.
• Let us know if you have dietary restrictions - gluten-free, vegetarian/protein-restricted, and alcohol-free are easy to accommodate. For anything else, we will do our best with advance notice.
• What to bring: proper clothes for the weather, as we never know when it will rain, and a few of the stops are outside dining (with covered options). We may be outside 2 of the 3 hours. And don’t forget to bring a healthy appetite!
• Don't forget to tip your guide! If you have a fabulous time and want to tip your guide, please do, 10-20% is standard for the industry.
