The Bustling Buckman Hood Food Tour - Hawthorne, Goat Blocks & More

What you'll do:

Come on and let’s explore the bustling streets of the Buckman neighborhood. All the while this Portland culinary tour will take us to some of Portland’s distinctive foodie offerings. This once-exclusively industrial neighborhood has undergone a Renaissance in recent years. It has come into its own as a favorite place for hipsters to live, hang out and of course eat! A plethora of diverse and delicious eateries await you.

Our several stops in this Portland epicurean walking tour will create a varied and scrumptious meal and whet your appetite for what the Buckman hood has to offer. Examples will include ethnic contributions such as the well-renowned Hat Yai and Kachka, as well as a visit to a craft cocktail tasting room (mocktails are available), a vibrant food cart pod, and more. Alcoholic beverages and one non-alcoholic beverage are included.

You will not leave hungry! While the Buckman hood extends more broadly, we will be focusing on the mini-hubs called The Goat Blocks as well as in and around Hawthorne St. In this unique Portland food tour, we will walk a total of 1.5 miles through the neighborhood, including vintage homes, repurposed industrial spaces, and hipster hangouts while we visit a handful of foodie hot spots in the Buckman neighborhood. Along the way we will also talk about the history and current going ons of Buckman and Portland. We will end about .5 miles from where we start. I will lead us back to our starting point, or you are welcome to walk or rideshare back in your own time.

Hi! I’m Sherri. And I admit I’ve been a food lover since I could walk! Guests often ask how I got started giving Portland food tours. Well, in 2018, I created Portland by Mouth to share my love of ingredients, eating, nutrition, cooking, honoring experimental and creative chefs, culture, travel & creating community around food. Some of my most favored activities!

Myself and other guides are all Portlanders through and through - and we all delight in meeting locals and visitors who share a love of food, adventure, and our quirky city!

Additional information:

• We walk about 1.5 miles total, please wear comfortable walking shoes.
• Let us know if you have dietary restrictions - gluten free, vegetarian/protein restricted, and alcohol free are easy to accommodate. Anything else, we will do our best with advance notice.
• What to bring: proper clothes for the weather, as we never know when it will rain, and a few of the stops are outside dining (with covered options). We may be outside 2 of the 3 hours. And don’t forget to bring a healthy appetite!
• Don't forget to tip your guide! If you have a fabulous time and want to tip your guide, please do, 10-20% is standard for the industry.
