Booking was a breeze with all the info you'd expect for renting a vessel to travel on the water (similar to renting a car, actually). I was worried I needed Safe Boating certification, but it wasn't required for this. Ken was very thorough in explaining rules of the road, where we could go with the boat and where all safety equipment was located. We were given a handheld VHF and bluetooth speaker to use! There were 4 of us and were very comfortable on the boat, which actually holds up to 10. We had the boat that had a steering wheel, which made for easy operation without holding the tiller of the outboard. This boat was powered by a gas outboard which moved the boat at a good speed, but for the most part we just had the throttle at idle or just above to cruise the harbor area and stay in the breeze. The boat was very stable, even when we tried rocking it back & forth, it just levelled out quickly. Highly recommend if you're spending the day at National Harbor with friends, family or even a date. The electric outboard option may be slower, but I imagine the much lower noise level could be better for a more relaxing/intimate trip. I'll definitely be coming back.

We did a 2 hour rental with friends around the harbor. Had so much fun! Great way to spend an afternoon outdoors! Checking in was a breeze.

This seriously is such a fun and amazing experience. Where have you been all my life, Freedom Ring Boats? They are very spacious, easily fits 10 people and very easy to drive. They have electric motor boats for a more relaxing ride and gas powered boats for a faster experience. The price is really good and one of the best values at National Harbor. I highly recommend this experience when you're at the harbor!
