Question 1

Where is the studio located?

We are located in the historic Seeley building on the border of Atwater Village and Glendale. 1800 South Brand Blvd. #107 Glendale, CA 91204 The cross streets are South Brand Blvd. and San Fernando Blvd. The studio is located on San Fernando Blvd. halfway down the block. The closest freeway to the studio is from the 2 Freeway off the San Fernando Exit.

Question 2

Is there parking?

There is a parking lot that you enter from Brand Blvd. before you reach the light at San Fernando. There is a guest parking section for $10. There is also free street parking on San Fernando and residential parking behind the building.

Question 3

What should I bring?

Because you will be standing most of the time I recommend wearing very comfortable and supportive shoes. There will be stools at each station as well. You may bring noise canceling headphones, earbuds or earplugs. Even though I use the quietest tufting guns out there it can be too much for some people. I will also have earplugs available if you need them. If you have long hair please bring something to tie it up with. I’ve seen people get their hair caught in the motor and it’s not a fun situation!

What is provided?

All materials are provided! Coffee, tea, filtered water and snacks are all available. You are welcome to bring beverages and snacks and store them in the fridge as well.

What can I expect?

We will begin the class by learning the basics of  the tufting gun, how to use it and then go into techniques and approaches for the rug making process. Then everyone will go to their stations and use the remaining time to make their rug. I will be there to answer questions and help in every way possible.

Question 6

What is the cancelation policy?

Accepted Answer

There are no refunds for cancellation of the class. If you need to reschedule please do so 10 days before class. If you are later than 15 from the start class you will be marked a no show. If you are sick or test positive for COVID you will be given credit to use for a class at a later date. We want everyone to be healthy so please don’t come to class if you are sick. If you come to class and are actively sick (sneezing, coughing) I will ask you to leave and you will not be refunded.

Question 7

How do I know what to tuft?

Accepted Answer

You can design your own image or send me something you’ve found online. The images can be up to 19” wide and 19” tall. Please keep in mind that you are tufting the entire piece in a fairly short amount of time so keep it simple. Avoid anything with perfect circles if possible. It’s best at the beginning to only focus on tufting up and down as much as possible. Also avoid any images with small details. In tufting, bigger is always easier. I’ve added a page of designs and patterns that you can choose from as well.  All images need to be sent to me 1 week before the class so that I can see if they will work and we can make any modifications to the design if necessary.
