Cappy's Cafe is one of my go-to brunch place after a hike in Newport Beach CA. Always enjoy their food and now, they have an outdoor patio so we can come and enjoy brunch with our furbaby dog. The weather was nice when we went so the outdoor patio was perfect to dine in. Service is great but food takes a while to come out. But don't worry, the wait would be worth it because their food is all very good. I am a Benny girl so I always order one of their eggs Benedict dishes. It's delicious! Parking could be a challenge if you are not patient to wait for a spot to open up but the turnaround of their customers is pretty quick so just be patient if you didn't see a parking space open.
Cappy's was our most memorable breakfast on our Newport beach vacation! Everything was tasty! We had a skillet, omelet, and two egg breakfast. It has a classic warm vibe with art like dogs and sea landscapes painted on the walls. We sat outside (nice glass walls surrounded the outside patio so no crazy wind while we ate breakfast). Service was very good - they kept refilling my coffee. Lots of people packed in the restaurant - a sure sign it is a winner! It wasn't the least expensive - our freshly squeezed orange juice was six dollars - but we will go again!
Was in the area for a doctors appointment & came across this beautifully painted cafe! We had breakfast & it was so delicious! We ate outside in the patio area due to no place to eat inside. They were extremely busy (means it's a good place) But it was so nice, with the great beach air. The waitress's were on point & so friendly. Coffee was hot & had the special flavor coffee creamers we both loved. Food came out quick & was hot & large & delicious. We definitely will be back when in the area again. The building was painted SO adorable with dogs & beach vibes!
We celebrated our life long friend's birthday today and the Cappy's team took great care of all 14 of us. They moved us inside due to the weather and kept us all at the same table and nice and warm. I had the blackened fish tacos and they were fabulous. The homemade chipotle sauce has a great kick and comes on the side. The tortilla chips are made fresh in house and it shows, so yummy!! My friend next to me had the tuna melt and said it was very good. You really can't go wrong with any items on the menu. I recommend holding your next Celebration at Cappy's.
Love Plums! The service is fantastic and the new management is the best!!!! Ask for Lindsey!!!!Also...the food and ambiance is phenomenal. Super fun for celebration gatherings!!! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
I had a Bridal Shower for my daughter and Lindsey, the Catering Manager was incredible to deal with. She gave suggestions, and provided a full menu with the information that was given to her. I was able to make changes without it being a burden. Lindsey was quick to respond to every email. She promised delivery at a certain time, and it arrived 10 minutes early. The food was all delicious. My guests (22 women) all loved it. I had one guest with allergies to a lot of foods and she made it all happen, so my guest felt taken care of without others knowing. I would absolutely use Plums to cater another event.
Plums Cafe is incredible! Our office hosted a 3-day conference, and it was important we served amazing food. We ordered breakfast and lunch from the Plums Party Menu and EVERYTHING was delicious! Not only did the food taste amazing, but the presentation was top notch. Our guests loved everything from the baby quiches/egg bites, bacon, homemade biscuits, to the savory sandwiches. I had the best experience ordering from Lindsey. She gave great advice on menu suggestions and made ordering for the office a breeze! We can't wait to order from Plums again!
I saw the hype about the two pound cinnamon roll on social media. I was skeptical - but i had to find out. I found out. Best cinnamon roll in California! Easily!!! I also found out that this is a gorgeous full service restaurant - not a bakery; that makes sense because this cinnamon roll is something you have to sit down to enjoy. They even serve it with a steak knife so you can cut through it without smashing it too much. The cinnamon roll is delightfully chewy and NOT overly 'doughey' - even tho there's a lot of dough. The dough-to-cinnamon ratio is perfect! So much cinnamon! - and sooo many layers, because they work hard to make the dough sections THIN - the = more surface for cinnamon! It is so worth it. But even two people couldn't finish it... The omelet was also good and the coffee was also on point. The cafe is beautiful and there must have been 60 people seated in the restaurant called Plums Cafe between the indoor and outdoor seating. OOOH! And i have to tell you this! They have one of the NICEST and coolest men's bathrooms I've ever seen. Picture excludes the urinal cuz that's just too much - but a cinnamon roll that good deserves to exist in a place with a. Bathroom that nice!
Took my lively wife and daughter to enjoy a nice breakfast. It's been a long time since i have been to plums and it did not disappoint. We all truly enjoyed our meals and the service was great. It packed out quite fast, but still very pleasant and clean. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so i look forward to place like Plums. I appreciate good service. Even once it became a full house, they still served us well. You can see the food, and while i don't suggest a single person eat that whole roll, it was very tasty. Highly recommended.
Came here at the recommendation of friends who dined a few days earlier. We were in town for my wife's birthday and decided to bring her here for breakfast. Food was good and fresh although it did take a while. Service was good and the restaurants outside seating was very nice. Would definitely come back if were visited the area again.
I haven't been to Plums Cafe in what seems like a lifetime, and I think they have only gotten better! They are voted Best Brunch in OC for a reason. It's always hoppin here, even on a Thursday! I always have to get a savory and sweet item because they're all so good. Personally I have always loved the coconut French toast. It has this delicious orange butter and the French toast has this crispy coconut coating. It's mouth wateringly delicious! Today I also tried the stirred eggs (I think that was the name). I never heard of it before and couldn't even imagine it, but WOW, it did not disappoint! It had this delicious and creamy sauce, with a tomato relish, spinach, egg and bread all made to perfection in a warm skillet. I'm hungry just thinking about it! Serviced was fantastic, restaurant and bathroom are clean. Shout out to all the staff and amazing cooks in the kitchen. I love Plums Cafe!
I thought this place was overhyped but after coming here more than once, I'm realizing it's not! I've tried both their sweet and savory dishes and I've enjoyed everything I've gotten (top picks: French toast, eggs Benedict, skillet eggs). They have a large portion so my friends are I typically share. What I really commend them for is their excellent service and how knowledgeable they are about what's vegetarian friendly. Also our server saw I was Muslim and informed us of which items had meat which I super appreciated. It does get busy so I recommend trying to come between 9-10 am to avoid the brunch/lunch rush. There are plenty of small tables of seats indoors and outdoors. I think they can also seat larger groups but I would recommend calling in.
I am so happy we stumbled upon this place. We came on a holiday weekend. There was a wait for a table but no wait at the bar, so we went for the bar as the full menu was also available there. The staff were so welcoming and friendly as our order was taken right away and they shared their favorite sips and bites. The food was incredible!! We ordered the Sweet Potato Hash and the Plums Biscuits and Gravy. It's not often I clean my plate but at Plums, every bite was delicious that I couldn't leave anything behind. I cannot wait for my next trip to the OC to try out Plums again!
The perfect little spot for a cute Sunday brunch with the girls. They were very organized with check in and all the staff was polite and attentive from beginning to end. But the food was the main seller! $30 champagne flights and the lavender lemon drop was really refreshing. I got the Vietnamese pork and egg bowl, the pork was DELISH! It was tender but crisp and the over easy eggs over their house potatoes was the best. 10/10
This place is 10/10!!!! The food was so tasty and delicious. every plate looked so appetizing I wish I could have tried them all. They are big portions which makes it worth it for the price. The service was QUICK. We had a large party about 15 people and we ordered and got our food super fast. Our server was amazing! Tall blonde man, didn't catch his name unfortunately. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, friendly, and very organized. 5 stars! Would recommend to everyone and will definitely go there again!
I stopped by for breakfast early on a Sunday morning. I am sure it gets packed on the weekends, but fortunately we had an easy time getting a table at around 8:30am. Parking was easy with many open spots in the lot. There were plenty of options to choose from, but I decided to order the spinach and feta cheese omelette. In addition to the aged feta and sautéed spinach, it consisted of baby tomatoes and olives. It came with bread and I also opted to add a cup of berries. The omelette itself was very delicious. The ingredients complemented each other. The berries were perfectly ripe. Service was quick and friendly. Highly recommended spot for breakfast.
Amazing food ! Went here for Mother's Day and my wife's birthday, the place was so beautiful and clean. Wife loved the giant cinnamon roll
This place deserves 10 stars! The service was great! The ambiance was perfect but the food was outstanding!! I Britney wife for her birthday breakfast and she always not disappointed!! Will b back for sure!
Came here to celebrate my milestone birthday with a girl friend. Our orders: - crab omelette: ORDER IT! A very generous crab portion, wrapped in a very yummy tasty flavorful omelette. I would love my potatoes a bit crispier (or crustier/crispier) on the outside and just a tiny bit more salty, to be honest. - flat iron steak and egg: ORDER IT! my friend's order. She said very good! - Plums famous Dutch baby: ORDER IT! Food was great, service was even better! Our server, Chris, was very attentive and efficient. We stayed from 10 am until the restaurant closed at 2 pm. Will definitely come back to try other things!
Lovely service and it was packed at 9am on Sunday. Definitely recommend reservations because we only got seated thanks to a no-show reservation. Parking is decent and dogs were allowed in the patio. The dutch baby is just like the one at The Original Pancake House which is also delicious and very filling. They came out quickly and offered plenty of syrup and powdered sugar. They offer Rishi with a cute cast iron teapot if you want hot tea. Overall, a little noisy but lovely place to have brunch. Lots of boutiques in the area too.
I live one hour away from this restaurant and, unfortunately, don't go often enough. However, it is worth the drive and today I had a good breakfast, excellent service, and we were outside because we had two dogs with us. Luckily, it was a beautiful day and it was very pleasant. If you live in that area, run (don't walk) to this restaurant. Opens only till 2 pm.
Mmm those French toast cinnamon rolls were BOMB. I think these are the best cinnamon rolls in OC hands down. Obviously they aren't like your classic Cinnabon experience, but the mashup between French toast and cinnamon buns is amazing. Would recommend - the portion sizes are big too!
We stopped in again at one of our favorite breakfast shops in Newport. The food and service is always outstanding and the food is high quality. We were honored by Cappy's today in participating in 20% of our bill was going to be sent to the LA fire relief fund. Thank you !
The servers are all so friendly the outside seating and inside are always clean. The food is all yummy you can't go wrong with nothing pn the menu
Husband brought me here on a busy Saturday & did not disappoint. Been on a pancake obsession, decided to get the raspberry pancakes with vanilla cream. SO DELICIOUS. Ended up getting their 2 pound cinnamon roll, ALSO DELICIOUS. Amazing service as well. Even with it being super busy, the staff was always checking in on us, making sure every thing was to our liking. Always appreciate the great service. Will be back to try their other pancake options!
I've been following this restaurant on Instagram maybe a year and I've been wanting to go but it's an hours drive from where we live. For my birthday my husband paid for a beautiful hotel in Newport Beach and the next morning. I finally asked to come here. the inside is nice, they were very crowded. The service was great and we both liked what we ordered. It was so nice. I actually asked my husband if we could come back for Easter. Problem is waking up in the morning and doing an hour drive before breakfast but if you're in the area, I highly recommend it.
The food and service were amazing ! Both husband and myself loved our food and the service goes beyond!
After passing by on pch as a local I haven't been here. Inside has the ambiance with beach view. Finally stopped in for my boyfriend's birthday today and enjoyed a late breakfast that was delicious here! Highly recommend trying the French toast combo and hash browns as well as the fried steak and eggs! The service was mazing the staff was super nice.
I would say that this is my favorite diner in Newport Beach. I say diner because it is like a traditional American diner, not so much a retro diner. It's located on beautiful 101 in North Newport Beach. Very close to the HB border. Parking is really easy, they have a free lot attached on both sides of the restaurant. Inside is also very large with two different dining areas, as well as many different type of seating options from booth, to table, to counter. The menu is also awesome, it has a lot of unique items on it and it's the sort of place where you can get something new each time. Our server was very polite but there was a bit of a delay getting our food items out, but it was very busy when we stopped in for Saturday morning brunch. The food quality and taste here really beats out the competition. Everything that we ordered was honestly fantastic. I ordered the Seafood Benny with Wild Caught Crab Meat and switched to the thick cut sourdough toast as the bottom, which I would recommend. The crab was fresh, the hollandaise had great flavor, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I honestly loved every bit of this dish and would highly recommend ordering it. I am eager to stop in again next time I am down in the OC area.
