Private Group Glassblowing Class at Hot Glass Alley

What you'll do:

Get ready to BLOW! You and your crew will get an up-close and personal glassblowing experience that you won't find anywhere else in the Queen City!

Put on your party playlist and design your own glass pieces, working one-on-one with our skilled gaffers (that's a fancy word for glassblower) to create your unique pieces. Bring your own food and drinks to our event space during your class and enjoy shopping for hundreds of hand-blown glass pieces in our gallery.

Create ornaments to commemorate, design your own drinking glasses to sip your favorite beverages from, make matching vessels to use as centerpieces for your special occasion, and so much more!

After your group signs their waivers and selects their glass shapes and colors, our glassblowers will go over important safety information and introduce the hot shop equipment and tools you'll be using during your class before beginning. Each participant will get time with their assigned gaffer to discuss their design ideas during their turn to create their piece.

About this experience partner:

Hot Glass Alley, located in the NoDa arts district, is Charlotte's only glass blowing studio and glass gallery. Guests are welcome to bring food, beverages, and decorations to our studio event space for your special day. We love sharing what we do with the community! It's the perfect environment for company team building, family reunions, birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, special events, etc.

Additional information:

• Age requirement: Glassblowing class participants must be 9 years or older

• Dress code: All class participants must tie back long hair, wear closed-toed shoes, and natural fiber clothing (no synthetic/spandex/athletic wear materials)

• Shipping or local pickup options: Glass pieces will not be ready for local pickup until 7-10 days after creation. Shipping is provided as an option for a standard shipping rate of $18 per package.

• Food & drink policies: HGA does not offer catering, but outside food and drinks are welcome. Refrigerator and freezer space is available for your convenience as well as buffet and drink tables for your use.

• Alcohol policies: Guests 21 and older may provide their own alcoholic beverages and are allowed to enjoy them responsibly during their class.

• Included: Your event space rental includes round tables and chairs for your guests, along with black tablecloths & candlelit centerpieces. Please let us know if you will be bringing your own table decor to use instead. Safety gear is also provided by HGA for all participants.

• Parking: Limited parking spots are available in front of the building; additional parking is provided in the rear. Please enter through the front door upon initial arrival, and please let us know if you will need to use the loading dock to transport food and/or decor into the event space.

• Safety: Glass is heated to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit and is dangerous to work with, so all participants MUST follow the safety protocols given by their glassblower to avoid injury from hot glass, tools, and open flames. Participants not following safety instructions and/or behaving in a way that may cause injury to themselves or another person may be removed from the hot shop without a refund.
