About this Experience

What you'll do: You'll ride along the historic Apache Trail through the Superstition Mountains, tracing a route the Apache once used to move through this rugged Arizona range.

  • Scenic Van Drive – Wind through Superstition Mountains on the historic Apache Trail, with canyon walls and desert vistas at every turn

  • Museum Stop – Browse the Superstition Mountain Museum's exhibits on the Lost Dutchman gold mine, regional geology, and Native American artifacts

  • Guided Nature Walk – Learn to identify saguaro, cholla, prickly pear, and ocotillo on a Sonoran Desert walk with your guide

  • Goldfield Ghost Town Visit – Explore an 1890s mining town, ride the Narrow Gauge Railroad, and walk the tunnels of the historic Mammoth Gold Mine

  • Tortilla Flat Break – Stop at a historic Old West outpost for lunch and shopping before heading back to Scottsdale

By the end of the day, you'll have covered one of Arizona's most storied stretches of highway — part scenic drive, part history lesson, part treasure hunt.

Why we love it for your day trip:

  • All-Inclusive Admissions – Every attraction stop is covered in your ticket price, so there's nothing extra to plan or pay for on-site

  • Small-Group Van Format – Travel in a van rather than a big bus, making stops easier and the pace more relaxed

  • Layered Itinerary – Four distinct stops (museum, ghost town, nature walk, historic outpost) keep the day varied instead of one long drive

  • Family-Friendly Pacing – Suitable for all ages, from kids fascinated by gold panning to grandparents who want the history

  • Built-In Storytelling – Your guide narrates the Lost Dutchman legend and Apache Trail history as you go, so the drive itself becomes part of the experience
