About this Experience

What you'll do:

You'll ride through Jackson Hole's valleys, forests, and mountain passes with a professional naturalist at the wheel, scanning open meadows for bears, moose, bison, elk, and bald eagles in the places they actually live.

  • Guided by naturalists: Your guide is a working naturalist and photographer who reads the landscape and knows where animals are most likely to appear by season, weather, and time of day.

  • Wildlife variety: The route covers habitat types that support bears, moose, elk, bison, and bald eagles, giving you a realistic shot at spotting multiple species on a single tour.

  • Flexible duration: Half-day and full-day tour options let you choose the pace and depth that fits your group's schedule and energy.

  • Photography-ready vehicles: The touring vehicles are built for sightseeing, with wide windows and stable platforms that make it easy to photograph wildlife without rushing.

  • Convenient pickup: Guides can collect you directly from your Jackson or Teton Village hotel, or you can meet the group at the Home Ranch Welcome Center in downtown Jackson.

This is a genuine wildlife experience in one of North America's most biodiverse valleys, not a staged encounter. Conditions vary, and that's exactly the point.

Why you'll love it for your group:

  1. Easy for everyone: No hiking, no gear, and no fitness requirement means the whole group participates at the same level regardless of age or ability.

  2. Built-in photographer: Having a naturalist guide doubles as having someone who knows how to position the vehicle for the best light and angles.

  3. Arrival flexibility: Hotel pickup removes the coordination headache of getting a group to a trailhead on time.

  4. Conversation starter: Spotting a grizzly or a bull moose at close range gives the group a shared moment that carries the whole trip.

  5. Scalable options: Half-day and full-day formats mean you can fit this into a packed itinerary or make it the centerpiece of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wildlife can we expect to see on a half-day tour?

Wildlife sightings vary by season, time of day, and natural movement patterns, but half-day tours commonly encounter species such as elk, moose, bighorn sheep, mule deer, bald eagles, bison, and occasionally foxes, coyotes, or even bears. Our guides track seasonal behaviors daily to give you the best chances for memorable sightings.

What is included in the tour?

Your half-day experience includes a professional naturalist guide, transportation in a comfortable safari vehicle, high-quality spotting scopes and binoculars, water, and breakfast or snacks depending on the time of day.

How should we dress for the tour?

Jackson Hole weather can change quickly, even in summer. We recommend wearing layers, closed-toe shoes, and a warm outer layer. In early spring and late fall, gloves and hats help keep you comfortable during early morning hours. Your guide will keep the vehicle warm but much of your wildlife viewing happens outside the vehicle.

Do we need to bring anything?

We suggest bringing a reusable water bottle if you'd like, a camera or smartphone, and any personal items you may need. Your guide will provide spotting scopes, binoculars, and snacks.

How much time do we spend outside the vehicle?

Your guide balances drive time with plenty of opportunities to step out, use the spotting scope, and observe wildlife at a comfortable, safe distance. Most stops last a few minutes to 15 minutes depending on wildlife activity. Your guide always chooses locations that prioritize guest safety, animal welfare, and the best viewing opportunities.
