About this Experience

About This Experience

What you'll do:

You and your group board a private raft on the Snake River and spend three hours floating past the Teton Range, with a guide pointing out wildlife, sharing the history of the valley, and helping you find the best angles for photos along the way.

  • Private boat: Your group has the raft entirely to yourselves, so the pace and conversation are yours to set.

  • Teton views: The float runs directly beneath the peaks of Grand Teton National Park, giving you unobstructed sightlines that are hard to match from land.

  • Wildlife spotting: Bald eagles, great blue herons, moose, and river otters are regular sights along this stretch of the Snake River.

  • Expert local guide: Your guide covers the geology, ecology, and human history of the Snake River corridor in a way that adds real depth to what you're seeing.

  • Cooler provided: Bring your own drinks and snacks and keep them cold in the on-board cooler stocked with ice.

This is a calm, flatwater float, not a whitewater run, so it works for all ages and fitness levels. Groups of up to 12 can book the same boat.

Why you'll love it for your group:

  1. Exclusive: No strangers sharing your raft means you can talk freely, move around, and make it feel like your own afternoon on the river.

  2. Grand Teton backdrop: Few experiences in Jackson Hole put you this close to the Tetons with this little effort, and the reflection off the water makes every photo better.

  3. Guided depth: The guide turns a scenic float into a real education, covering everything from Snake River ecology to the ranching history of Jackson Hole.

  4. Flexible departure times: Morning, midday, and late-afternoon slots let you build this around the rest of your itinerary rather than rearrange your day for it.

  5. Great for mixed groups: Calm water and a relaxed pace make this a strong fit for families with kids, couples, and multi-generational groups alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can we expect to see on the float?

This gentle two-hour float highlights some of the most stunning scenery in Grand Teton National Park. Guests often enjoy views of the Teton Range, quiet stretches of the Snake River, and wildlife such as bald eagles, moose, beavers, elk, mule deer, and waterfowl. Every trip is unique based on seasonal movement and river conditions.

Where does the scenic float launch?

All scenic floats with Solitude Float Trips launch from Deadman’s Bar inside Grand Teton National Park. This exclusive put-in provides direct access to one of the most peaceful, scenic stretches of the Snake River. We do not launch from Wilson Boat Ramp.

What should we wear and bring?

Weather can shift quickly along the Snake River. We recommend dressing in layers and wearing shoes that can get a little wet. Sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen are helpful on sunny days. Bringing a small camera, phone, or reusable water bottle is encouraged.

Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?

Wildlife is abundant along the Snake River, but sightings can never be guaranteed. Our guides are highly experienced naturalists who understand seasonal patterns and river habitats, increasing your chances of seeing animals during the trip. Even without wildlife, the scenery alone makes the float unforgettable.

What is the difference between a public and a private float?

On a public float, you share the raft with other groups. On a private float, you have the whole raft to yourself for your party, and undivided attention from your guide. Private floats also bring a cooler full of ice for you and your group to keep any beverages you wish to bring along cold.
