About this Experience

What you'll do:

Float ten miles down the Snake River with the Teton Range rising above you on both sides, while a guide who knows this stretch of water points out what you'd otherwise miss. This is a slow, open-water float through one of the most visually striking corridors in Grand Teton National Park.

  • River route: You'll cover ten miles of the Snake River through protected parkland, with current doing most of the work while the scenery does the rest.

  • Wildlife watching: Moose, elk, bald eagles, river otters, and the occasional black bear are all regular residents of this stretch of riverbank.

  • Expert narration: Your guide covers the natural history, ecology, and geology of the Tetons in a way that makes the landscape feel legible, not like a memorized script.

  • Flexible departures: Morning and afternoon launch times are both available, so you can plan around the rest of your day in Jackson Hole.

  • Meeting logistics: The launch site sits near Moose, WY, at the edge of the park, with optional pickup available for guests staying in the Jackson Hole area.

This float runs 2.5 hours and suits a wide range of ages and fitness levels. No prior rafting experience is needed.

Why you'll love it for your group trip:

  1. Low-key pacing: There are no rapids or physical demands, which means people of all ages can show up and actually relax.

  2. Built-in conversation: Two and a half hours on calm water with no screens or distractions is genuinely good for groups who want to catch up.

  3. Rare wildlife access: The Snake River corridor sees consistent wildlife activity, and a knowledgeable guide improves your odds of spotting animals significantly.

  4. Flexible scheduling! Back-to-back morning and afternoon slots mean this can anchor a full day or fit neatly into a packed itinerary.

  5. Pickup option: Groups without a vehicle or those staying downtown Jackson can arrange transportation directly with the partner.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can we expect to see on the float?

This gentle two-hour float highlights some of the most stunning scenery in Grand Teton National Park. Guests often enjoy views of the Teton Range, quiet stretches of the Snake River, and wildlife such as bald eagles, moose, beavers, elk, mule deer, and waterfowl. Every trip is unique based on seasonal movement and river conditions.

Where does the scenic float launch?

All scenic floats with Solitude Float Trips launch from Deadman’s Bar inside Grand Teton National Park. This exclusive put-in provides direct access to one of the most peaceful, scenic stretches of the Snake River. We do not launch from Wilson Boat Ramp.

What should we wear and bring?

Weather can shift quickly along the Snake River. We recommend dressing in layers and wearing shoes that can get a little wet. Sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen are helpful on sunny days. Bringing a small camera, phone, or reusable water bottle is encouraged.

How wet do guests get on the scenic float?

This is a calm, non-whitewater stretch of the river, so guests typically stay dry. Minimal splashes may occur near the shoreline or from paddles, but this trip is designed for comfort and easy sightseeing. Your guide at the oars will navigate the smoothest channels whenever possible.

Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?

Wildlife is abundant along the Snake River, but sightings can never be guaranteed. Our guides are highly experienced naturalists who understand seasonal patterns and river habitats, increasing your chances of seeing animals during the trip. Even without wildlife, the scenery alone makes the float unforgettable.
