Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any knowledge of macrame?
No! Blair will walk through how to create the knots step by step and help guide you as your plant hanger comes to life.
Do we need to provide the supplies?
Nope! Blair will have an individual set up for each person participating. You just have to show up and the rest is taken care of.
What if I suck at macrame?
You won't! But, if you truly feel that way, Blair will offer as much or as little hands on assistance as you need. If you're not enjoying the process, Blair will also help finish your piece so you still have something to take home.
What if we don't finish in time?
No worries! If you haven't completed your plant hanger by the end of the workshop, Blair will walk you through how to finish at home, OR she can assist you in finishing it during class so you'll have a complete piece ready to take home.
What even is macrame?
Macrame is the art of hand knotting. So it's not knitting or crochet (you need tools for those), but just rope and your own two hands. The macrame cord used is 4mm (much thicker than yarn), so it's easy to work with, and once you learn to tie the knots, you keep knotting until a design is made. If you're still confused, you've probably seen it in your grandmother's house. It's actually a vintage art that was really popular in the 60s and 70s and has recently had a huge resurgence!
