About this Experience
What You’ll Do
Design and create your own custom rug during a hands-on tufting workshop at Pop Craft Studio in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
Bring Your Own Design Arrive with a photo, logo, character, or design idea, and your instructor will help transfer it onto the tufting canvas before the session begins.
Learn to Use a Tufting Gun You’ll work with a professional tufting gun, filling in your design color by color as your custom rug gradually comes to life.
Instructor Support Throughout Instructors move through the room the entire session, offering real-time help and guidance for beginners and experienced crafters alike.
Design Guidance Included The team helps simplify or adjust designs when needed so your rug translates cleanly and looks polished at the finished size.
Professional Finishing Process After the workshop, the studio completes the trimming, shaving, and backing process so your final rug looks clean, durable, and professionally finished.
The workshop runs approximately three hours, and your completed rug is typically ready for pickup or shipping about two weeks later.
Why We Love It for Groups
Creative & Social at the Same Time Everyone works on their own design, which naturally creates conversation, collaboration, and plenty to look at throughout the session.
Beginner Friendly Even first-timers usually feel comfortable with the tufting gun quickly, and instructors are nearby whenever help is needed.
Perfect for Celebrations Bachelorette parties, birthdays, girls’ nights, and corporate outings all benefit from having a shared activity that feels more memorable than a standard dinner reservation.
You Leave with Something Real Every guest creates a custom rug they actually designed themselves, making the experience feel far more personal than a typical craft class.
Private Group Options Available Groups can ask about reserving the studio privately for celebrations, team-building events, or larger gatherings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a private booking?
No, this is an open studio booking (other customers may be present in the studio). We have private studio rental options available upon inquiry!
Are the rugs ready to take home after the class?
Rugs are not ready to take home same day. Our expert rug makers will put the finishing touches of backing, trimming, and shaving! Rugs are typically ready about 2 weeks after your event.. Pick up + shipping options are available.
Can I change my booking after it's been made?
Changes can be made to your appointment time, date, or group size. If you need to adjust your booking, leave the studio a message via email, text, or call, or reach out through Batch!
What designs are best for rug tufting?
We recommend designs with bold lines. Fine/small details are difficult to capture in the smaller sized rugs. Popular design ideas that work very well: Hello Kitty, Murakami Flower, Kirby, and Emojis. Visit our Instagram and TikTok for more inspiration, or reach us by phone/email and one of our staff will help you narrow your search!
