About this Experience
What you'll do
Ride a brand-new Sea-Doo jet ski along the Atlantic coast of Myrtle Beach on a two-hour guided tour through some of the most active dolphin-watching waters on the South Carolina shoreline, with a barrier island stop built into the route.
Follow Your Guide Into Open Water — Your experienced guide leads the group through prime dolphin habitat along the Atlantic coast, positioning your jet ski for the best chance at close-up wildlife encounters.
Spot Dolphins in the Wild — Keep your eyes on the water as bottlenose dolphins surface, swim alongside, and occasionally bow-ride near the group. This stretch of coastline sees consistent dolphin activity throughout the season.
Cruise the Barrier Islands — The route takes you past Bird Island and Waites Island, two of the area's most scenic barrier stops, where you can cut the engine, take in the shoreline, and catch your breath between runs.
Set Your Own Pace — Whether you want to open it up on the open Atlantic or cruise at a comfortable speed through calmer stretches, your guide customizes the ride to match your experience level and comfort.
Ride with Full Safety Coverage — Every participant is fitted with a life jacket, and the guide handles navigation, conditions, and group pacing so you stay focused on the experience, not the logistics.
This is the kind of Myrtle Beach water sports experience that works just as well for first-timers as it does for riders who've been on a jet ski before. The wildlife element and the island route make it more than a straight rental run, and the two-hour window gives you time to actually take it in.
Why we love it for your adventure
Guided, Not Just Rented — A trained guide leads every tour, which means better dolphin sightings, safer riding, and a route that actually goes somewhere worth seeing.
Brand-New Sea-Doo Fleet — All jet skis are current-model 2-seater Sea-Doos, so you get reliable performance whether you're riding solo or with a passenger.
Real Dolphin Habitat — The route runs through waters where bottlenose dolphins are regularly spotted. This isn't a "you might see dolphins" experience; it's a deliberate route through known dolphin territory.
Barrier Island Access — Most jet ski rentals don't take you to Bird Island or Waites Island. This tour does, which gives you a destination and a reason to pause that straight rentals don't offer.
All Skill Levels Welcome — Guides adjust pace and instruction in real time, so first-timers feel confident and experienced riders still have room to enjoy the open water.
About this experience partner:
Southern Shores Island and Dolphin Cruises runs guided jet ski dolphin tours and water sports experiences out of North Myrtle Beach, operating a fleet of brand-new Sea-Doo jet skis alongside three USCG-inspected boats and a full lineup of water activities. Known for routes that combine wildlife access with barrier island stops most operators skip, Southern Shores attracts first-timers, families, and experienced riders who want a guided experience rather than a basic rental. Their staff is trained in both jet ski operation and local marine conditions, which means every tour runs on local knowledge as much as it does on horsepower.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to see dolphins?
Morning is the recommended time for the best chance of seeing dolphins. This does not guarantee dolphin sightings, but the ocean is usually calmer in the morning, which makes it easier to find them.
How old do you have to be to ride?
To drive, you must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license. In addition, anyone born after July 1, 2007, must have a boater's license to operate a watercraft in SC. A temporary boater's license can be obtained online at https://www.boat-ed.com/southcarolinarental/. Minimum age for a passenger is 3 years old and at least 35 lbs.
What if it rains?
We are going to get wet anyway. We ride rain or shine. Trips will be cancelled for dangerous weather, such as lightning.
Can I drive if I have never been on a jet ski before?
Yes. Our expert staff will teach you everything you need to know before you go to ensure a safe and memorable experience. The tour is at your pace, so whether you are a first-time rider or seasoned veteran, we will ride at your speed.
Do we always see dolphins?
Unfortunately no. These dolphins are wild animals and are not captive or trained, which makes seeing them even more amazing, knowing they are in their natural habitat. Unfortunately, that means there are times we go out and do not see them. Our expert guides know all the tricks and local "hot spots" for dolphin activity, so while it is not guaranteed, we will likely see them on the tour.
