About this Experience

Why we love it for your party:

  • What you'll do:

Image candy is the one people pull their phones out for. You pick a design, and we build it into a log of hot candy about the size of a fire hydrant. Then we pull it. As that log stretches out and gets thin, the design shrinks right along with it, and when we cut it into pieces, your picture is inside every single one. No molds. No printing. Just sugar, heat, and a lot of hands. For a bachelorette, that design is yours. The bride & groom's initials, a heart, the wedding date, whatever you want in there. Everyone goes home with a bag of candy that has it in every piece.

The class runs a little over two hours. You'll help build the design, help pull the candy while it's still hot, and cut your own pieces at the end. You do everything except pour the sugar. We bring the aprons, the gloves, and every color we've got. It's BYOB, so bring what you're drinking. Closed toe shoes are required. We're working with sugar at 315 degrees. This is our most involved class and the one we're proudest of. It's also the one that photographs the best, by a mile.

Why we love it for your party:

    • The reveal is the moment. Everyone gets quiet, we cut the log open, and the design is right there in every piece. That's your video

    • The design is yours. The bride's initials, a heart, the date, your inside joke. It gets built into the candy itself

    • Everyone leaves with a bag of personalized candy. Some groups use it as the shower or wedding favor and knock two things off the list at once

    • BYOB, but remember the sugar gets up above 300 degrees, so partake responsibly

    • Everyone's working at the same time. Nobody stands around watching one person do the fun part

    • No experience needed. We teach it as we go and nobody sits out

    • Just over two hours, indoors and air conditioned, with a clean start and end so it drops into a full day between other stops

    • We fit up to 15, so most groups come as they are

    • Heads up: closed toe shoes required. Hot sugar. Save the heels for dinner

    About this experience partner:

Papabubble started in Barcelona in 2004 with one idea: bring old school, hand-pulled candy making back to life and make it something people could actually watch, and try, for themselves. Houston is home to the only Papabubble location in North America, tucked into the Heights, where the shop runs part candy store and part live show. Our makers pull, twist, and cut fresh candy in front of customers several times a day, then invite groups behind the counter to make their own lollipops, taffy, rock candy, and image candy from scratch. We also bring the whole process to you. Our portable candy making table travels to private events, corporate offsites, and celebrations anywhere in Houston.

However you find us, you're leaving with candy you made yourself and a story worth telling.
