Bonsai Workshop in New York City - Style Your Own Bonsai Tree

About this Experience

What you'll do:

Unplug and get your hands in the soil with a classic Japanese bonsai workshop in the heart of New York City. In this in-person class at RESOBOX, you’ll work with a sub-tropical bonsai tree, an ideal variety for indoor apartment living, and learn the essentials of bonsai design and care. Your instructor will guide you step by step through pruning, shaping, styling, maintenance, and repotting, explaining why each technique matters for the long-term health and beauty of your tree. You’ll use real bonsai tools during class, ask questions as you go, and leave with a finished bonsai you created yourself, plus the confidence to keep it thriving at home.

Why we love it for your party:

  • Take-home bonsai tree (everyone leaves with their own living mini tree, so the experience keeps going long after the day ends)

  • Beginner-friendly styling lesson (clear, guided instruction makes pruning and shaping feel approachable even for total first-timers)

  • Perfect indoor variety (sub-tropical bonsai are well-suited to NYC apartments and easy to care for year-round)

  • Bonsai tools provided in class (no shopping or prep needed—your group can jump straight into creating)

  • Calm, creative group energy (a relaxing, social activity that still feels like you made something impressive together)
