Located on the iconic Esplanade Avenue, you’ll be nestled between the French Quarter and City Park — close enough to the buzz, but with room to breathe. Spend your days brunching nearby, exploring charming Creole homes, or hitting Bourbon Street when the sun goes down. This neighborhood mixes history, art, and nightlife in the most New Orleans way possible.

Getting around

The French Quarter is just a 5-minute rideshare away, and there’s a bus stop right out front. Prefer to drive? You’ll have free, gated parking on site — though let’s be real, you’ll probably Uber from brunch to bar. I wish I could rate the Degas House, especially Dave and Adrianne, far beyond five stars. While warm, gracious hospitality is common in New Orleans, what truly set the Degas House apart was the overwhelming love we walked into. Miss Adrianne made my party and me feel genuinely welcomed and cared for from the moment we stepped out of our Uber. The house itself is full of rich history, but it’s the service and intentional care we received during our stay that made this experience unforgettable. The decor in the rooms is stunning, and the attention to detail throughout the house feels both curated and deeply personal. Every space radiates charm, warmth, and purpose. The entire staff helped create a welcoming environment that exceeded every expectation. I truly can’t say enough amazing things about this place. It’s more than a stay, it’s an experience filled with heart.

The history in this house and in this part of town is amazing. We didn’t know a ton about Degas before staying there but we were interested in learning. We went to a couple of the local art museums and looked at several of the original Degas artworks. The house has such an amazing feeling to it. I’m sure some renovations have had to be done over the years but it feels just as if it’s been untouched for over 100 years. It’s a beautiful place to stay. David was amazing and very helpful. It’ such a unique place with a cool history. We definitely hope to stay there again at some point in the future.

If there are any impressionists, poets, composers, child prodigies, pianoteurs, romantic comedy writers, or silent actors left in the world, the Degas House is the place for you. Balzac would find a garret to escape his debt collectors and mistresses. I come here to write and relax. A European experience like none other. The curator and his staff were splendid.

There are two things I will highlight - first, the property and second, the staff. If you appreciate the character of old homes and the history contained within, you will love this property. It comes with its quirkiness, no doubt, but we were overwhelmed with its charm. The Estelle room is grand - a very large room with a large porch looking out over Esplanade Ave with its gorgeous and very old oak trees. Regarding the staff, it doesn't get any better than this. They are wonderful caretakers and you feel right at home. It wasn't just prompt and accurate service, but a genuine care for their guests. Every interaction was pleasant and enjoyable. I will absolutely stay here again!

My wife and I stayed at the Degas House for four nights and loved every minute. My wife, being a dancer and dance teacher for many years, was excited to be in the midst of so many of Degas' ballerina paintings and sketches. Being given a tour by Degas' great, great, grandniece was the cherry on top. This was a wonderful stay among wonderful people.

I recently attended a wedding at the Degas House and it was wonderful. The staff was helpful and the food was plentiful and delicious. The setting was perfect the ceremony was in the courtyard and it was magical. My friend's daughter was so happy.

If you'd rather enjoy a quieter side of town, this is the spot. It's a very well cared for gorgeous home built in the 1800s with some room options that include a private balcony & even a kitchen. We received complimentary breakfast served fresh daily & the option of mimosas or bloody Mary's. And of course, coffee & tea available. The staff was amazing, they made us feel at home. Big shout out to Ms. Dee, Sharon Parker & Mathew Rhodes for your great service. Hope to stay there again on our next trip to NOLA.
