Wagashi Making Class in New York City - Nerikiri Sweets Workshop

About this Experience

What you'll do:

Learn how to craft Nerikiri Wagashi, the delicate, seasonal Japanese confections that look like tiny edible works of art. In this hands-on workshop at RESOBOX in New York City, you’ll be guided through traditional Nerikiri techniques, from coloring and shaping the sweet bean paste dough to forming petals, leaves, and intricate details. Everything is prepped for you, so you can jump straight into the fun part: sculpting beautiful designs inspired by the season’s theme. By the end of class, you’ll have four finished wagashi to take home (or snack on right away), plus skills you can recreate with ingredients available in NYC shops.

Why we love it for your party:

  • Seasonal Japanese sweets you make yourself (each guest creates four Nerikiri pieces, so everyone leaves with a delicious, photo-worthy set)

  • All materials prepared and included (no prep stress for the group; ingredients, tools, and take-home containers are ready when you arrive)

  • Beginner-friendly step-by-step guidance (instructors demonstrate every technique clearly, making intricate designs feel totally doable)

  • Creative and relaxing group vibe (a calm, social experience that still feels special and celebratory)

  • Skills you can repeat at home (the workshop uses ingredients you can find locally, so it’s easy to keep the tradition going)
