Salit creates a welcoming atmosphere and is incredibly sweet and helpful with corrections! I loved the dance circle in the end and the supportive environment that was fostered there today. I'm looking forward to attending more classes!

I'm only reluctant to give a review because the studio likely has a maximum capacity! The class is amazing and belly dancing classes in NYC at the beginning level are scarce. So, once this review is out there, I might have trouble finding a space on a Saturday afternoon! The teacher, Salit, is very talented both as an instructor and dancer and the class is so enjoyable that I had to submit a review. Salit is upbeat, encouraging and the belly dance fitness class gives you just that 'belly dancing' and 'fitness' within the hour.

We came for a bachelorette party and had a private session. The lesson was great and super fun! Salit was very sweet and taught us many moves that we actually put to use later that night!

Salit of SHEBA Belly Dance NYC hosted 2 wonderful folklore workshops with authentic teachers. It is really hard to find training in Turkish Romani and Saidi double cane in my area of CT. I was very happy to make the 2.5 hour drive into NYC to study with Pelin Qualben and Ragaey Hussain. I learned so much.

An amazing workshop from start to finish! The organization was flawless, and every detail was thoughtfully planned. A huge thank you to the incredibly kind organizer, Salit, who took care of everything and made sure all the dancers felt welcomed and supported. Truly a five-star experience—highly recommended!!!

I have been going to Salit’s dance classes and school on and off since 2019, and I have to commend her for how much she has changed my life. Salit’s classes and instructors will teach you confidence, stamina, strength, different musicalities, culture and sisterhood. This school offers so many opportunities for students to grow, from doing music videos to being in cool dance recitals or even music festivals and parades. This school taught me how to use my first saidi cane, how to balance a sword on my head, tons of cool choreography like oriental, dabke, folklore, mahraganat , shaabi, arabesque and drum solos. She teaches student fundamentals like rhythms, instruments, traditional props like fan veils, swords, canes, trays and she explains lyrics to famous arabic songs. I even hired Salit’s troupe to perform at my bridal shower and all of our guests had a blast. I love how she even has knowledge on how to dance postpartum which was a big deal for me personally. If you ever go to big heights here like the performance series or doing your own solo , she always provides the costumes and tons of study material and practice. You will always be setup for success here. The knowledge she has about music and art form is thorough- she is patient kind and answers all questions. I like the 1-1 attention she gives. I also love her spirit and high bubbly energy. She taught me a lot of ballet principles too which is a good foundation for many dancers. Plus her classes are affordable(25 a class or 19 in a package) and she always has sales on cool workshops. You will make a ton of friends here too, she does fun group outings like belly dance shows for other performers at various restaurants and festivals, and she makes birthday parties fun too! I highly recommend this school to everyone!

I absolutely love this class! I just started belly dancing classes here and it has become my favorite type of dance already. Salit is great at teaching and the atmosphere of the classes is always friendly, safe and welcoming. Would definitely recommend

I came into Sheba as a total beginner looking to expand my comfort zone and learn something new. Salit is a wonderful teacher. Her bright energy is infectious and she makes everything simple and accessible. You will leave class feeling confident and energized. She has students that have been dancing with Sheba for over a decade, and that speaks volumes to the quality they deliver. If you are considering trying belly dancing, Sheba is a great place to start.

Salit is a wonderful teacher and her classes are fantastic and fun. I have also enjoyed performing dances too. My classmates are great too. I highly recommend taking belly dancing classes from SHEBA.

Belly Dancing with Salit was soooooooooooo fun!!! Salit is kind, loving and genuine. I love how she communicated by using words to break down the movements, it helps my brain understand the movements and tricks, I will be back!!!

Salit’s class is amazing, I had so much fun and I learned a lot. The music that she uses in her classes is always fun and I leave class happy and wanting to dance more! Also, the atmosphere at Sheba is very welcoming, i love the sisterhood concept that this dance studio has, it makes me feel comfortable, I highly recommend Sheba for a great belly dance experience:)

I have gone to SHEBA Belly Dance NYC a few times in the last 8-9 months. I have done the beginner's belly dancing as a drop in with Kathyy and now in the beginner belly dancer series with Pelin. The instructors are great! The class is fun and goes by very quickly. And the way the moves are taught are palatable.

We brought a bachelorette party of 8 girls to SHEBA belly dancing. It was the highlight of the night. Thank you for making all the girls feel comfortable, welcome and beautiful!! Can't recommend it enough! :)

Salit and the Sheba crew were awesome! I had seamless coordination with her about plans to celebrate my birthday with a class. Once the class began I was totally immersed in movement that was creative, well-guided and most of all fun! We used props supplied by Salit and the live drummer made the experience that much more authentic and rhythmic. Salit had every moment packed with a variety of interesting movements and kept things interactive with myself and my guests. I loved this experience and would highly recommend you try!

Booked a saturday night class with Salit and my girlfriends and I had an amazing time! Salit taught us the basics, allowed us to freestyle and we had fun while learning! Salit was patient, kind and very accomodating to our group of 8 ladies! Would def recommend taking her class if you are in NYC.
