About this Experience

What you'll do: You board in the morning and spend the next twelve hours with Catalina Island as your private charter's playground — no shared boat, no fixed itinerary, just your group and the water.

  • Cruise to Catalina – Depart Los Angeles between 7–8am and watch for dolphins and whales on the crossing before mooring at Avalon or Two Harbors.

  • Choose your pace on the island – Step ashore to explore Avalon or Two Harbors, or stay aboard and let the day happen on the water.

  • Swim and paddle board – Cool off in Catalina's clear water or take a paddle board out from the boat whenever you want a break.

  • Fish or relax dockside – Chase trophy fish with the crew or post up at the water dock with a drink in hand.

  • Party on deck – Get on the mic for karaoke or hand the sound system your Spotify playlist and keep the deck moving until sunset.

Whether you spend the day chasing fish, floating near the island, or dancing on deck, the twelve hours move at whatever speed your group sets.

Why we love it for your group:

  • Full-Day Private Charter – Twelve hours means no clock-watching between stops on your Catalina Island day trip.

  • Bluetooth Sound System with Karaoke – Hand over the aux or grab the mic — the deck stays loud exactly how your group wants it.

  • Paddle Boards and Water Toys – Get off the boat and into the water without renting extra gear.

  • BBQ and Private Chef Option – Skip the food logistics and eat well without leaving the boat.

  • Free Starlink Internet – Stay connected the whole trip, even a few miles offshore.

About this experience partner: The Island Hook operates private boat charters to Catalina Island out of Los Angeles, built for groups who want the island, the water, and the boat to themselves for the day. The crew handles everything from navigation to onboard food service, giving guests the option of a private chef, a full BBQ setup, or a straightforward day of fishing and swimming. Groups return for the flexibility — one twelve-hour charter can be a fishing trip, a swim day, or a party, depending on what the group wants out of it.

Additional information:

  • Light snacks, water, and coffee are included; outside food and drink are welcome aboard.

  • Charter holds up to 6 guests for the full 12-hour trip.

  • Children under 4 are discouraged due to the length and nature of the trip.

  • Pets are welcome on board.

Yes! We have a full galley. BBQ, Griddle, Microwave and full kitchen utensils. There is a cooler on board (please give 24 hr notice if you need ice)

Can I bring pets?

Yes! Boston was named after our dog and we love animals. No more than 2 preferably and we keep them out of the cabins.

Usually there are sea lions, dolphin and even whales! It is more likely to see them on a 3+ hour or Island trip but we can't guarantee it.

Yes but that it reserved for booked fishing trips.

How early should I arrive?

It is best to arrive 15 minutes early to get gear on board.

If we arrive late does the time start when we arrive?

No, the time that is purchased and scheduled is the time we will stick to. That way we arrive on time for the next group.

What other amenities do you have on board?

We have paddle boards, a water dock, big screen TV, and Starlink

How long does it take to get to the island?

Plan for it taking anywhere between 1.5-2 hours (depending on weather) Sometimes looking at whales or dolphin could take longer. Some people like to enjoy a longer journey, some like to get there as quickly as possible. We try to accommodate one or the other!
