The company behind all three is a Savannah-born country dance outfit that started as one person's fix for missing the Texas two-step scene after moving to the coast — a "if nobody's bringing the honky-tonk here, I will" kind of business. What began as pop-up dance lessons around Savannah and Tybee Island grew into a full private-event operation, now booking bachelorette parties, birthdays, rehearsal dinners, and corporate events across both Savannah and Charleston. The through-line across every format is the same: nobody needs to know how to dance walking in, and everybody's dancing by the time it's over.

The Studio Session, Charleston

For groups who want the whole experience to feel polished — good lighting, a real sound system, nothing to move out of the way first — the Charleston option puts everyone inside The Dance Lab for a private 45-minute class. It's the most controlled of the three formats, built for a group that wants to actually learn a routine rather than just get loose for the night, and it runs from $450 per party. This is the pick for a group that wants great video and photo content out of the session itself, not just bragging rights for later.

The Pre-Game, Savannah

This is the loosest and most affordable of the three, and it's built with one specific goal: getting a group dance-floor-ready before they head out for the rest of the night. It runs an hour, starts at $325 per party, and comes to wherever the group already is — no need to find a studio or clear a room beyond what a living room allows. One reviewer summed up exactly why groups book this one before a big night out: despite calling herself a rough dancer, she said the team had her laughing the entire session and feeling comfortable enough to actually enjoy herself. It's less about mastering the choreography and more about walking into the honky-tonk later already knowing which way to step.

Sand In My Boots, Tybee Island

The most distinctive of the three ditches the indoor setup entirely. Shindigs runs its country swing and line dancing sessions right on the beach at Tybee Island, with a simple rule: no boots, no shirt, no problem. It's BYOB, casual, and built around golden-hour timing, with a covered gazebo nearby as the backup plan if the weather doesn't cooperate. This is the version for a group that wants the celebration to feel like a beach day first and a dance lesson second — photos with the ocean behind you, bare feet in the sand, and just enough choreography to make the whole thing feel like an event rather than an excuse to hang out on the beach.

Picking the Right Format

The choice mostly comes down to what the rest of the day looks like. Groups already staying near the coast and building a beach day into their itinerary tend to gravitate toward Tybee Island. Groups looking to warm up before a night on the town in Savannah go with the pre-game. And groups who want the session itself to be the main event — with the production value to match — book the Charleston studio class. All three run through the same base skills, so a beginner walks into any of them on equal footing.
