Wedding season is a time of celebration, joy, and festivities. It can also be busy. Like, *really* busy. And between buying wedding gifts, dresses, booking travel, and more, it can also be expensive. With all that, how can you possibly schedule a bachelorette party that will work with everyone’s schedule AND budget?

Question asked—and answered. Because we’ve got all the dos and don’ts you need to put together an unforgettable bachelorette celebration the bride and your guests will love.

DO Start Planning Early

Planning a bachelorette takes a lot of coordination. You have to work with other people’s schedules. You want to make sure the restaurants and activities you’re interested in still have availability. And sometimes, the little things can take up a surprising amount of time, like planning decorations, transportation, and party favors, to name a few. Giving yourselves ample time to sort through these details will make it easier to enjoy the process and to ensure you’re not stressed out about it. Also, the sooner you can start looking at potential dates for the party, the simpler it will be to coordinate a time that works for everyone.

DO Be Mindful of Other Events

You’ll likely have to work around a bunch of other events people have going on—other weddings and related activities, vacations, and more. Be as flexible as possible to help find a weekend that will work for everyone so nobody will be left out of the celebration. (Pro tip: The BATCH app has a polling feature that lets you find the most convenient time for everyone. Check it out!)

DO Book Venues and Services in Advance

Whether you’re looking at restaurant reservations, the cutest Airbnb, or an outdoor adventure, the venues and services you’re interested in can book up fast. And not only that, but prices can go up the closer you get to the event. So the earlier you start scheduling plans, the more likely you’ll be able to snag everything you want and not have to settle for your second or third choices. The BATCH app can help make this easy too; not only can you browse through some of the coolest party ideas in the hottest locations, but booking through the app is seamless too.

When to Book Accommodations for a Bachelorette Party:

6-12 months in advance: If you're planning on going to a popular destination during its peak season or have a large group that requires specific types of accommodation.

3-6 months in advance: For most other destinations. It's always a good idea to book as soon as you have a confirmed date and guest list.

When to Book Activities for a Bachelorette Party:

4-6 months in advance: For popular activities or experiences that tend to get booked up quickly or have limited availability.

2-4 months in advance: For most other activities, especially if you're planning a more relaxed itinerary.

DO Communicate Clearly and Regularly

Keeping everyone in the loop throughout party planning means everyone can be on the same page with timing, plans, and what to expect from the weekend. A good group chat can also make everyone feel connected and start to get excited before the party even starts, as well as give everyone a say about what kind of activities/food/drinks/etc. y’all want for the bash. With the BATCH app, you can easily stay connected with all your party guests to ask questions, share ideas, and confirm when plans have been booked.

DO Have a Backup Plan

Maybe a storm came through and ruined your picnic idea. Or the venue flooded and needed to cancel. Or maybe after a busy day being out and about, people are feeling a night in versus a crazy night at the clubs. There are lots of reasons your plans might change, so it’s smart to have some backup plans just in case.

First and foremost, be flexible about your plans and don’t get too upset if you need to make changes—the point of a bachelorette is to have fun, and even if things don’t go as planned, keeping a good attitude will go a long way toward making it a great trip and making sure the bride is always having a blast. You can also have a list of substitute plans on hand so you can think on your feet and make quick adjustments if needed. It’s also a good idea to book services that are refundable or changeable and include travel insurance when possible so you won’t incur extra fees. If you’re booking outdoor activities, keep an eye on the weather ahead of time so you won’t be surprised, and always confirm plans with vendors a few days beforehand to avoid last-minute cancellations.

DON’T Ignore the Budget

Being conscious of people’s budgets is always a good idea, but it’s especially so during wedding season when people might have multiple events they need to consider. Use the BATCH app to discuss the budget early, and once you’ve got it set, stick to it. Planning and booking in advance will help you get the most bang for your buck, and taking the DIY and/or BYOB route is a great way to save some money too. You can also rent a house together instead of getting individual hotel rooms to share costs, and when you’re booking activities, always ask about group discounts.

Most importantly, remember the point of a bachelorette is to spend time with the people you love and celebrate the bride-to-be, and that doesn’t have to be expensive! Cooking and eating a meal together, setting up your own picnic, and or spending a day at the beach are all things that can bring the group together but don’t have to cost a fortune.

Here’s a quick and helpful read on what a bachelorette party should cost to give you some ideas.

DON’T Forget to Prioritize the Bride

It can be easy to get caught up in everyone’s different ideas and preferences, but the bride is the guest of honor, so don’t forget to treat her like one! That could mean small things like decorating your Airbnb in her favorite color or making her her favorite dinner or dessert. Or it could mean agreeing to designate a greater portion of the budget toward booking a special event you know she’ll LOVE. (Spa day, anyone?) Keep the bride tuned into your plans and check in with her frequently to make sure she’s feeling good about how the weekend is coming together.

DON’T Forget to Check Availability

Whether it’s your party guests, your restaurant reservations, your Airbnb, or the VIP seating you got at that trendy club, we always recommend confirming everyone’s availability up front, and then checking in again ahead of the event to make sure nothing has changed. The BATCH app will help you stay in touch with your guests and their RSVPs, as well as connect with vendors as needed.

DON’T Forget the Little Things

Sometimes it’s the little things that can make a big difference. Like making sure the fridge is stocked with the bride’s favorite snacks and drinks. Or decorating your place to match the theme of her wedding. Even things like party favors, glow sticks, or matching T-shirts can pull the party together and give it an extra-special touch, reminding the bride how much you love her and how excited you are to be celebrating her.

DON’T Stress Out

Party planning can be a lot to coordinate—we get it. But stressing out isn’t going to help anything but take away from the fun and joy of the weekend. Use the BATCH app whenever possible to cut down on extra stress. Delegate tasks so you don’t feel the pressure to be responsible for every single thing. And at the end of the day, remember the point is to share quality time together and let the bride know how much you love her. If you keep that front and center, you’re sure to have a spectacular bachelorette bash no matter what.

Planning a bachelorette party during wedding season requires careful consideration and preparation. By following these dos and don'ts, you can create a remarkable celebration that honors the bride-to-be and embraces the festive spirit of the season.
